I have a quantum smoke 150 pt 7:3:1 , Ive used my sons Lews 5:1 ( love It) but im thinking about getting a quantum EXO , does anyone own one of these? or any other thoughts ? I can get a new EXO for around $150.00/ a new smoke for about $135.00 and a lews for around $129.00 for the rod im not really sure my sons rod is a KVD ( very heavy) ive got a smoke on my smoke( i think I'm not going with the micro guides), i also own a G_ Lommis gl 2 jig n worm on my c14 stradic ( wondering if the bait caster rod is as good) and suggestions ? I really dont care if its top end as long as it prforms top end!!!!! Quote
THE BASS WHISPERER Posted May 30, 2013 Author Posted May 30, 2013 What do u wanna throw with the new set up? 12lb proline poly carbon Quote
Bass Junkie Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 If you want to go Quantum, grab the EXO and slap it on a Duckett Micro Magic rod, or a Macro Magic if micro guides aren't your thing. Either way, you'll end up with a very light setup, and I think you'll love the rod! Quote
Triton 186 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 been using revos for a few years and love them, but I recently got a couple of lews, and for the money Im very impressed. I really like the denali jadewood , and rosewood rods, www.denalirods.com Quote
Bassfink86 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 you cant go wrong with the lews reels, as for rods there are so many out there that it would be best to go test how some feel, i think you cant go wrong with a dobyns, duckett, or even the irod gen2's Quote
martintheduck Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 My favorite setup at the moment is a REVO STX 6:4 on a 7'2" Cumara m/h worm x-fast tape. SUPER light and SUPER sensitive. Best $450 I've spent on a setup, easily. I also run a Crucial rod, same specs as the cumara, and I love it too. It's a bit heavier than the Cumara. I'm a huge fan of what shimano has been doing with their rods, exposing more of the blank under the reel. It makes it a more comfortable palming, and it gives me more fingers on the rod, which IMO is always good. Crucial rod was well worth the $150. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted May 30, 2013 Super User Posted May 30, 2013 Dobyns 734 or 735C and a Revo Premier, Gen 2 if you can find one. Quote
Arv Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 150-200, I'd recommend a Powell or a Phenix. 250+, I'd recommend a Dobyns Champ or Champ Extreme. Quote
Blues19 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I recently bought a Revo S and an Abu Garcia Veritas rod and I could not be happier. Quote
GeorgiaBassBros Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Im lovin my revo s on a duckett micro magic. Reel is like butter and the rod is unbelievably sensitive Quote
