The Guy Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I fished this lake for the first time on Saturday and picked up a few small bass. Do any of you guys have any experience on this lake? I'm trying to improve my odds for my next trip. Thanks for your help Quote
The Guy Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 Go to REEDY...... I have and I did better just curious about walk in water Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted May 30, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted May 30, 2013 The Walk - is loaded with huge fish. It's just not as easy to catch them as it used to be. Before the hurricanes you could sit out in the hydrilla and catch them all day. Now it's more like the Kissimmee chain. Buggy whips and deep outside maidencane is your best bet this time of year. Right now it is very low and more difficult to fish. I have a tournament there in two weeks. I will let you know what I find. Quote
james 14 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Went today and it's still shallow and water temps are near 90. My advice for now and really for anytime is to go someplace else. As Lee said there are big fish in the lake but it's not the same after the hurricanes killed the hydrilla so IMO if you don't have to fish it as we do for a tournament my advice is, again, to go someplace else. BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted June 3, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted June 3, 2013 I practiced yesterday and got skunked. Taylor boated a 2 pounder about 11 am. That was the only bite in about 4 hours. Quote
james 14 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Robert and I went Sunday as well but the rain ran us off. We got there around 2pm. I lost the prop on my TM right off the bat and while trying to find something to work as a prop nut for my spare Robert hooked into a 2-3 lber that got off at the boat. After getting a spare nut from a generous guy at the dock we went back out and managed one more dink before the storm. May have some kind of a pattern but nothing big unless we can get lucky. All this rain will make it interesting as will the cloud cover or lack thereof. Robert may hit it again Friday (ain't retirement grand!?) to check a couple of leads. Quote
gar-tracker Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I fished WIW once in the mid 80s a friend of mines dad has a place on the lake and we drug our boats up from S Florida. I pulled out of the north end and went west up into a cove and started throwing top water, we started nailing nice fish, a couple of guys were fishing a tournament came by and i told them I'm catching fish and to try it, we had to leave by then. We went to the weigh in later on and the guy came running up to me asking me If I was guide on the lake because he went in there and won the tournament. I told him nope first time on the lake. Blind Luck. I ran about 3 minutes before shutting down, if you want to try and attach any knowledge to it the fact that I did notice the current moving into some over hanging trees on the edge of the cove. I caught them on a Puppy Spook, I used to catch a lot of fish on the tiny little bait, now that i think of it I dont know why i dont throw it anymore. In fact I dont know if i still have any. I rather be lucky then good. Quote
