Question says it all. Was going to get the BB1, salesman talked me into STX, too fast for me, went to a Winch, and was not very happy with it. Casting distance was pretty good, but it wasn't very smooth, on the cast and reeling back in.

Should I just go back to my original choice? It will be paired with a 7' All Star Crankbait Rod.

I have a Lew's tournament pro and I love it. The lew's is my favorite reel. I also, have a Shimano Chronarch, an Abu Revo S,  2 BPS baitcasters and a Diawa. However, The Lew's casts better, is lighter and feels better than any of my other reels. I would not hesitate to buy another Lew's. I hope this helps.

I have a Gen 1 Winch and love it, Gen 3 Revo S and love it.  Maybe its just a bad Winch. I would take it back and say it wasnt smooth. If you have an issue with the next one, then I would go with the Lews, but Revos are pretty nice reels.  I mention the Gen 3 S cause i had an issue with one that felt like it was grinding a bit, took it back for another and its great! I would try another revo and if that is bad go with the Lews.

I would suggest the BB1, super smooth, cast a mile, and 6 pin auto and manual centrifugal braking. I don't think you would have any reservations and would almost guarantee you may have more Lew's, but wont be taking it back. I have never heard a single complaint on a BB1 from any owners. I know I am delighted. I have sold every other level wind reel I owned, (round and Low profile) and replaced them all with Lew's!

I have heard great things about the BB1. I have two lews, tournament mg for cranking and tournament speed spool and love these reels. Cast a mile and hardly ever catch a back lash. I also have two pro qualifiers and a revo s, but the lews are my favorite. I would go for the BB1 or any tournament lews.

Bb1 or a tp, I have those and a winch and hate the winch, the only good thing in one revo is its weight and slimness
