TNBassin' Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Walmart.com has the Veritas rods in all types of configurations for the price listed in the title. Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up. 1 Quote
TNBassin' Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Online only. You can have it shipped to your local wal mart to save on shipping too. Quote
Rich. Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I just bought the exact rod yesterday from Bass Pro for $100. Do I really need two rods is now the question. Quote

Rich. Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 return it I ordered it online, shipping it back would probably be $15+ so it is probably just cheaper to decide if I want to buy a 2nd rod. Quote
TNBassin' Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 I feel for you guys that don't have a BPS within striking distance. Quote
georgeyew Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 You can try calling BPS and see if they will do a price match. Quote
TNBassin' Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Bass Pro won't match Wal Mart prices, but it sure wouldn't hurt to ask. I tried it last summer and Wal mart isn't looked at as a BPS competitor. Now if anyone is new to the Veritas rods, be warned: The QC on them is at times atrocious. The biggest issue withe micro series is that sometimes the eyes aren't aligned very well. I prefer to always visually inspect the Veritas rods before I buy, but if you have it shipped to the store, you can check it out right then and there and make sure it's in order. Once you get a good one though, they are super nice rods and fish great. Just a heads up. Quote
Blues19 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I really used my veritas like crazy last week. I LOVE IT! I dont think I can afford another right now, however, I may splurge and get another. Quote

78Staff Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Just a heads up on walmart rod purchases - I actually just went through this about a month ago, and if you look at some of the reviews it appears to be a common problem. They don't have any decent way of shipping rods. IE, they don't have tubes like TW, BTD, etc use. They actually take two 6x6x40 boxes, tape them them together, and ship the rod in that. They also use no packaging of any kind, they just toss the rod in the box loose and ship it that way. I bought one rod - 1st one arrived with a broken guide. They sent a second one, it actually had poked through the end of the box and the tip guide was missing. The third one came and while the guides survived the blank was all scratched up. I returned all three and just got a refund. IMO it's just not worth the hassle to save a few dollars. If anything, try to have it shipped to store instead of your home. Maybe they have a better way of shipping it internally. At least you could inspect it when picking it up and refuse it if necessary. Quote
TNBassin' Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 The rods I ordered from walmart were packed just as well as TW packs their rods. Guess they changed their packaging now? Quote

In a long box with just some packing paper lightly wrapped around it. I had a couple micro guides bent flat on mine that I carefully had to bend back into place. Didn't affect the way the rod handles though. Quote

Hope so, I sure "explained" the correct way to ship a rod to them, several times Could just be a different shipping warehouse, however. Quote
