kyron4 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Do you want to just twitch it or really pop it ? A steady chug across the water or a twitch and pause ? Is there any rythem, like 3 pops, pause, 3 pops pause ? -Thanks Quote
bwell Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Really depends on the bite... Sometimes the bass like a nice couple pops and a pause and then a couple more pops ect... Sometimes they are a little skittish and I will just give it a couple twitches, and then a little pop ect... You cant really fish the lure wrong it just depends on how the bass want it. Quote
Shane Procell Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I like the Pop-R as slow as possible. I use small pops and twitches with a extended pauses. I get allot of hits on the pause. Quote
jdw174 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Twitch it, chug it, burn it, bloop it, walk it.....it doesn't matter. Try them all and the fish will tell you how they want it. Quote
BrianSnat Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I vary it. Sometimes soft twitch, sometimes loud pop. Generally in calm water its a soft twitch and I go with a loud pop in choppier water. But most often I'll mix it up. As far as the rhythm I'll mix that up too. Sometimes 1 pop or twitch then stop. Sometimes 2 or 3, then stop. Quote
D4u2s0t Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 there's no one "best" technique for any bait, tactic, style of fishing, etc. it's all about trying different things, finding out what the fish want, and staying with what works. try different things, and keep mental notes about exactly what you're doing, so when you do get that bite, you can try to replicate what you were doing that caused that strike. Super User iceintheveins Posted June 7, 2010 Super User Posted June 7, 2010 Slow retrieve usually unless you have shad or other pelagic forage skittering across the surface. I will throw it out, let the ripples die, give it a pop, pause it for 5 - 10 seconds and then pop it once or even twice again. Vary the intensity of bloops and vary the length of your pauses. Quote
Triton20XSD Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 As some of the others have said, experiment with the retrieve and let the fish tell you how they want it. One retrieve may work one day and not the next. Sometimes the fish may want it fished fast, next time they may want it slow. Quote
