Super User ww2farmer Posted May 22, 2013 Super User Posted May 22, 2013 It's all I use, except for cranking setups. Good stuff. Same. But I do crank with it too. Can't beat it for ripping cranks out of grass. 1 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted May 22, 2013 Super User Posted May 22, 2013 I have it on all but one rod (nanofil being the one) my 15# breaks at a little over 20# very hapyy with it and most likely buying more in a couple days. edit: I should clarify I have PPS8S on my reels. Regular PP on my kids reels. So yeah overall PP a good product. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted May 22, 2013 Super User Posted May 22, 2013 Another fan too and i like the 8lb diameter for cranking too..... Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Power Pro Super 8 Slick is my favorite braid by far right now. Before I started to use it though regular Power Pro was my line of choice. I just love how easy S8S comes off the spool (casting or spinning) after it gets "broken in". Quote
Nick49 Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Several of my setups are with PP. I have been using moss green for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and buzzbaits and hi vis yellow for soft plastics. I have used leader (mono as well as fluoro) and in other cases no leader (used sharpie to color last few feet of the braided line). Catch rate was the same. The comparison was not tested in what would be classified as "clear" water. I prefer to use fluorescent Stren mono for cranking. Sold on Power Pro. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 22, 2013 Super User Posted May 22, 2013 I have PP on about 20 spinning outfits, have tried several other brands that are good too, but seem to always gravitate back to PP. Price is usually right and can be bought about anywhere, it fits my needs. Quote
Arv Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I use the same. Dicks has some decent deals going on now too. Quote
MrSwimJig Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Power Pro is great braid especially Super Slick Quote
down4ttown Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Academy has regular PP for 9.99 this week. For some reason, I just like Academy better than Dicks. Quote

bassin is addicting Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 i've had the same PP 20lb on 4 different spinning setups for 4 years now.... it hasn't failed me once. love it. i see no need to change. although i did put some Tufline Supercast on one spinning combo and gotta say i really like it. super smooth and casts a mile! BUT, it has lost some of the coating on it....i don't think it has affected the strength...."don't think" being the key...just not sure.. Quote
JigMe Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I got 10lb PP on for shaky head, works pretty darn good but give sufix a try. Quote
thehooligan Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 All my spinning combos have 10lb power pro, all my casting setups have 20lb. Ive used power pro and slick, i like both but power pro is cheaper and it works for me. I also hit the sale at dicks, got a few 300yd spools cheap. Quote
derekxec Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 i use power pro on everything when i go out on my uncles boat he hates me lol cause he uses mono and when a nice fish gets on and starts running over mono lines it will saw right through them lol Quote
Rich. Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I'm looking for some line for a Veritas rod witha Chronarch 200 reel. Any reason not to use this braided line for this setup? Quote

Rich. Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 No How do I choose the correct weight for my setup? Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted May 23, 2013 Super User Posted May 23, 2013 How do I choose the correct weight for my setup? For a baitcaster, you're going to want to be in the 20-50# sizes for manageability. The smaller the diameter line, the more likely it is to dig into itself causing backlashes and other issues. Safely, consider PP braid in the 30# or 40# size to start with. Back half your spool with a cheap monofilament so you don't waste a ton of braid on the bottom half of the spool. 1 Quote

Super User Darren. Posted May 23, 2013 Super User Posted May 23, 2013 ok dicks had some on sale 20% off i tried other braids and wasnt happy but boy im hooked on this stuff got it in 50# and love it guess a lot of people on here were right its great Huge PP fan here. But my DSG doesn't stock it in yellow, so I usually go to BPS for that, when needed. Tried many other brands, but always return to PP. Even tried the 12 lb Tuf-line. Fine company, just don't like the line much when compared to PP and how the lines lay on size 1000, 2000 spinning spools. Just my experience. Quote
