mtaag3 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Does anyone still use a Johnson Silver Minnow spoon? It used to be popular with a pork trailer. Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 21, 2013 Super User Posted May 21, 2013 The Johnson weedless spoon is still popular in some regions of the country and Canada. Persuader American Tackle makes a upgraded weedless spoon with a good sharp hook and baitfish patterns better suited for bass fishing. Soft plastic spinnerbait type trailers work OK if pork rind trailers bother you. Tom Quote
Super User Scott F Posted May 22, 2013 Super User Posted May 22, 2013 I use them when fishing for pike in the weeds. I find pork rind trailers kill the action. I use a 3 or 4 inch twister tail instead. Quote
Packard Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 You're welcome, now I had to delete my first post! I still use one with a grub as a trailer. Quote

If you split the tail about 2" and use either white or chartreuse colors works good for bass and other predator fish.Tom 1 Quote
Bladesmith, Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 This is my favorite for thick grass or other vegetation. I like a 3 or 4 inch Uncle Josh Bass Strip. Some of my biggest bass have been caught with this combo. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted May 22, 2013 Super User Posted May 22, 2013 The 1 1/2 oz. Musky Size Johnson spoon is a great big pike bait, with or without a trailer. Just make sure you use a steel leader! Quote
