Fisherman532 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I've been doing my research on rods for $100 or less and have come to find that the top choices are abu garcia verita, st croix mojo, falcon bucoo, and the *** ***. That's what I've come to see. I was just wondering what the best rod for me is. The reel I have is the BPS Johnny Morris Gold Series, I just want your guys' opinions on what rod I should consider. I also have a $50 Dicks Sportings Goods Gift Card so if they're is a rod that you know they carry that's over $100 ill consider that as an option too. Thanks in advance! Quote
Fisherman532 Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Oh I forgot to add that ill mostly be using soft plastics, crank baits, and every once in a while jigs. I'm using 15# braid. Quote
Bonifas9017 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 St croix mojo bass best rod I have ever used. Great rod for the price Quote
TNBassin' Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 *** ***! I have a Veritas and the *** blows that rod out of the water. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the ***. Quote
MDBowHunter Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I love my St Croix Mojos as well, very nice rods Quote
SwampLife Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 They have *** *** and st croix mojo at dicks! I would go with the ***. Quote
TNBassin' Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 You'll be amazed at how well your reel will balance with the ***. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted May 21, 2013 Super User Posted May 21, 2013 Best thing to do is take your reel in and put it on the rods you are contemplating. Pick the one that balances well with it! Since it will all be personal preference. I would also not rule out the Shimano Compre rod either. Quote
TNBassin' Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 You definitely need to get your hands on an ***, because the reel seat isn't for everyone. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted May 21, 2013 Super User Posted May 21, 2013 Dick's has a sale going on right now if you order on-line. 20 off of a 100 dollar or more purchase plus free shipping. If you use your budget, gift card and this sale, you could get into some very good rods. The 100 dollar rod market is crowded with rods, some good, some not so good. Once you make the jump to the next level the 150-200 dollar range, the choices start to become a little less clouded and there are some clear stand outs. Good Luck Quote
SwampLife Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I appologize, the *** isn't at dicks its at cabelas.. I knew it was somewheres around my area and I knew it wasn't at bass pro or academy.. But with the deal going on and your gift card I would get a duckett rod for 150 - 160!! Quote
