Help Please!

So my first fed tournament yesterday, which I tanked unfortunately, almost lost my Dobyns 684 and chronarch while landing a lmb. Grabbed tip of rod as it went under just in time over 17' depth. What do I need to do to the reel? Disassemble air dry an re lube or hard core bearing cleaning and the whole 9? Please throw me advice. First time I fully submerged a reel.

Just clean and lube it good just as you would at the beginning of the season.. It'll be fine. Just don't let it sit for days.

Hopefully one of the reel gurus chimes in. I had this happen once last year. Disassemble the entire reel allowing all internal parts to air dry. The bearings will need to be flushed and lubed again. Also don't forget the handle as well. If left negated your retrieve will be very mushy feeling. Best to send it in or do a full service on the reel.

If the reel didn't lay on the bottom contamination was likely limited. At a bare minimum dry well and flush/lube the bearings. A full service sure won't hurt anything.

Ok I disassembled cleaned it per shimano instructions plus flushed bearings and re lubed now it's making a severe clucking noise. I took it apart 7-8 times cannot figure out what the deal is. Idk if it's main gear screwed up or roller bearing. This sucks. Gonna just send it in tomorrow.

Soory to hear you are having problems!! I would suggest you do that, and let a tech look at it. I can't believe anything was harmed by getting it wet, and whatever the problem is would have to think something is not correctly assembled. There should be no damage from getting the reel wet, and there are so many things that could be installed improperly it would be hard for anyone to diagnose over the internet. I would not try to use it as what ever you are hearing could cause more problems or damage. I doubt it will take much for a reel tech to straiten out!! GL!

Yea just mailed it. I think it's the catch on the anti reverse. I've taken my chronarchs apart before and cleaned them

I've dunked my pq, said a few expletives and just kept on fishing it. No probs. I did give it a good cleaning but that was way later on.

Just got update from Shimano. My reel is getting sent back today. Looks like the clicking was coming from the anti reverse paw not fully disengaging on the ratchet. They also replace 2 bearings and the roller bearing. All I paid was the $25 service charge. Pretty psyched, can't wait to get her back.

Just got my baby back from Shimano. They did a excellent job! My crank reel has never been smoother.

For anyone that doubted about having the reel taken apart this is the reason why. The damage left behind by a simple dunking in water can cause more damage than one thinks.
