sbfishySC Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 The cast that is going to cost me $140... Went for a quick, long cast, and the jerkbait ended up hitting the fishfinder at the console, puncturing and cracking it. Unit still works, but to get it fixed it's going to be $140. Ouch. Worst part? No fish came from the cast. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Man if that's the fish finder I'd hate to see the jerkbait...lol Quote
Super User Darren. Posted May 21, 2013 Super User Posted May 21, 2013 Major bummer, man. So sorry. Quote
OK Bass Hunter Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Bummer, at least you're ok. I've seen worse when the lure bounces off something other than water. Quote
(='_'=) Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 once i saw an equally expensive cast, when a man from another boat, i dont now if trying to impress us or something, tried to cast as far as he could.... but in the swing he hit the windshield with the handle (he was in some sort of cruise/ski boat), and he let go off the rod, which fell in the lake... goodbye to rod and reel... we past by them with the trolling motor as fast as i could, because i was trying hard not to laugh... maybe 1 hour later we came by the same spot, and they were still trying to fish for the rod, but according to my fish finder the depth there was around 30 feet... Bass Dude Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I did that to my unit on the bow with a 1 1/2 oz punch weight when I was trying to yank a fish from the weeds. Lost the fish and put a "bullet" hole in the screen. Like yours, the unit still works. Not worth getting it fixed.....adds character!!! Quote

Bummer, at least you're ok. I've seen worse when the lure bounces off something other than water. Definitely could have been worse. Not worth getting it fixed.....adds character!!! It's hard to tell this from the pic, but the only physical damage you can feel externally is a small circular hole I figure was from a treble hook, and since the unit still functions fine with only the depth reading being slightly covered (still readable), I figure I'll leave it until it absolutely needs to be repaired. By then, maybe I'll have some funds to upgrade, who knows. Quote
