Brand0n Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Most of my setups are baitcasters with 15-20lb p-line fluoroclear on them. I'm using the Academy h2o xpress reel which seems to handle light to heavy lures. Could i get away with flukes on that type of setup or would i have to use the magnum flukes for the weight if using weightless? its in the 80s here in Georgia already so i know the bass are getting active. Whats some good colors to use for these? Quote
Trailer Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I think you should get by with the Super Fluke without going to the magnum. That's what I always throw. Even easier on a double fluke rig. I like pearl and white ice colors. If not, put it on a spinning set up. I always neglect my spinning set ups but they are ideal in some popular lure techniques. Quote
Brand0n Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 most of my rods are 6'6" med-heavy and my favorite is my 7' med-heavy rod since its light and i can throw anything a mile Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted May 20, 2013 Super User Posted May 20, 2013 If you are able to throw it then it should be fine. I throw weightless flukes on on a 51e but i've throw them on a 201e7 /w no issues either. a lot of throwing these will have to do with the correct rod as well. i throw mine on a 610mf and 12lb mono and can throw them quite a ways. Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted May 21, 2013 Super User Posted May 21, 2013 I use 6'6 medium heavy 12 pound fluro.. spinning reel Quote
EvanT123 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Last year I spent alot of time and money trying to configure a baitcasting setup to throw flukes. I found a 50e and loomis imx 783 do a great job at it but have since started throwing them predominantly on a spinning setup. Go figure. Quote
Basseditor Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I throw super flukes on an academy mettle, 7' Kistler rod, and 20# Invisx flouro. I use 20# to get those bass out of the grass. I hardly use spinning gear any more. This set up casts surprisingly good. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 21, 2013 Super User Posted May 21, 2013 I throw super flukes with a 6'-6" rod with 15# mono. I don't have any problems. Quote
