Three years ago I started getting into bass fishing with artificial baits and was completely lost.  Then I found this site and started reading, posting, and reading some more.  Then buying, reading, and buying some more.  :eyebrows:  Over the past couple of years my success has improved immensely. This past weekend I went with my brother and dad on a weekend fishing trip for the first time in 4 years and it was the best trip we have ever had.  Caught more fish and made more memories than we had ever done the previous years.  The amazing thing was that we went to some lakes that we had never fished before, where previously we had gone to fish on a lake that we grew up on our whole lives and even knew the best spots.  Being able to go to a lake I had never fished and still be successful was a direct result of the techniques and knowledge that I had learned on this website.  Thanks so much Bass Resource!!

So much. Very grateful for the forum and all you guys! The experience here is the Wikipedia of Bass fishing.

For me it has been having the opportunity to meet so many avid anglers, both locally and throughout the country.

I hope everyone will at least consider attending the RoadTrip next spring. The fishing has been good, but meeting

so many great guys and gals is what makes the get-together special.

ive learned many things here. the best and probably most useful thing i have learned though is the through the gills hook removal method for gut-hooked fish. before learning that i wouldve either just cut the line or ripped a fishes guts out, not anymore...

This! I saved a 4lber last week!

I would have been there this year had I come back to the site a little sooner.  I'm only about 40 miles from Pickwick.  I hate to admit it, but I've never had the chance to fish it.  :/

way too much to be able to express...

everything possible about bass fishing can be found here....

it is incredible the knowledge that is shared.

it was awesome to meet everyone at the Road Trip.... i'm looking forward to next year's already..

i also joked with Glenn about "how much money the forum has cost me"

it's all good.... i've stepped up the quality (based on the recommendation of others) of every piece of equipment i own.  i'm convinced i have caught more fish, better fish, and not lost fish.....  with the upgrades.... and if it's all mental...then so be it...but it makes me have more confidence....which is a big part of it all...

thanks guys.... (and Kerri)  :high-five:

I have learned about more techniques than I can become proficient at!  There's so much I want to try on a given day at the lake.  I've definitely started catching bigger bass.  The number one thing that I've gained is confidence with a jig.  I caught my first fish with a jig about a year ago.

reading this forum got me interested in breaking away from my comfort zone of tossing soft plastics into the tules.

i watched Gene's videos on fishing the fluke and had moderate success the first time out. last weekend i was in my float tube and a school of stripers started breaking the surface literally 10 feet from me. i went 6 for 6 in those few minutes of madness. i was so pumped up on adrenaline my hands didn't stop shaking for 15 minutes. after the school moved on i threw one last time towards the shoreline and hooked into a 4lb large mouth kicker. 7 for 7. are you kidding me? without

the motivation to try the fluke, i don't think i would have been in the right spot and with the right bait to take advantage

of that situation. thanks BR! could you imagine if i had a double fluke rig tied on? haha. maybe next time...

I learned that Shimano and Rage products rank right up there with the discovery of fire and the invention of the wheel :cool09:

What blows my mind is that I have been fishing for many years and in the roughly 2 years I been visiting this site I have more than tripled my knowledge about bass fishing.  I have just about read every article under fishing articles lol..  Sadly I didn't grow up with anyone putting a pole in my hand, I grew up loving to fish and learning fishing on my own, wish I had this resource back then.

My first year doing a tournament and I am 4rth overall in my club, never really been in a bass boat before this year and never in a tournament setting, caught the biggest lunker this year and continue to catch 17+ inch bass every outing I have this site to thank for that.  In the past I used to think a 13inch bass was nice, now a 17inch bass is nice and anything under 19 doesn't even get a photo lol..

I've learned so much from this site, I don't know where to begin. But, here is my favorite lesson learned:

I had been going to a lake filed to the brim with huge bass! But every time I would hook into a 7+ pounder, they'd get away. Either wrap around something like a lily pad and suddenly disappear, or throw my hook, etc.

I came here posting this problem and describing all of my gear the best I could. The problem was quickly recognized as me using medium action rods.

The advice was given to use medium-heavy or even heavy rods from then on.

I took the advice and the very next time I hooked into a monster, I brought her in and she was... and still is... my personal best, at 8lbs, 4ozs.

I think we all have learned, from the beginner to the expert. What I appreciate the most is the people I have met as a result of this forum. I have met and fished with a couple of members, and that never would have happened if not for Bassresource.

I have been a member here for around 10 years and while I can't recall specifics, I know I have learned a great deal of things here.

The members have almost all been great (there have been a handful of complete jackholes over the years but Glenn usually boots them after giving them a chance to fix their stupid ways) and there are some that have been here as long as I have been.

Even old Glenn is better than kick in the head most of the time.  lol

I think if you (people in general) just stay open minded and listen to everyone's opinions and use what you want and ignore what you don't like, you can really increase your skill level as an angler.

There are some really good folks on here and I consider them all my friends (yes even you Roadwarrior).  lol

I just came home from my fishing playground using the split shot rig that I just read today from another thread. You gotta love BR. I caught 4 bass and one exotic (jaguar capote) all inside an hour. Awesome.

OK Gene. Can't be the best without something to compare it to. So what's the worst bass fishing website? :wink2:

Every time I relieve myself I think of you buddy! :)

I can die a happy man just knowing I touched another persons life.

I have learned a ridiculous amount from here, but the most useful would have to be how to take a hook out of a gut hooked fish through the gills without really hurting the fish or leaving a hook in em.

I wish you would plan a few days of your vacation time to join us next year's RoadTrip. You have a lot

of fans here and we would all like to meet you in person. Maybe you could convince that Texan that molds

worms for you to come along, too!

Glenn put the name of it on the filter list a long time ago so it won't show up when I type it. It's the big one that allows all the bickering and fighting. They are the reason that pros turn their nose up when they find out I moderate a fishing forum.
