Super User MarkH024 Posted May 17, 2013 Super User Posted May 17, 2013 The time has come. I need new tires on my '07 Explorer XLT. Today I got a flat in one of my slow leakers and I've had enough. It's time for them to go anyway. Anyone frown upon ordering the tires online and having them installed elsewhere? Or should I just got to a place for the whole deal? Looking to get Good Year Fortera just like I had with 60k warranty. About $125 a crack before tax/shipping. Open to suggestions if you got them. Quote
jherm87 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I order all my tires online and have them installed locally, unless you can get a local shop to come close in price Quote
derekxec Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 if you can find them online for cheaper ask your local places if they can meet or beat it...you have to also factor in the price if you order them online for shipping and getting them installed....whichever way you can get it cheaper is the way to go cause a dollar saved is a dollar saved Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted May 17, 2013 Super User Posted May 17, 2013 We always order ours and have em installed locally. Quote
MyKeyBe Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Make sure they clean and bead seal those aluminium rims when you get your tires mounted. That should take care of those slow leaks. 1 Quote
Trailer Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 If you can find a local shop that you can trust and will provide excellent customer service when you have a problem I'd give them a shot. They are supposed to make money on customers. Just make sure you aren't getting your head knocked off and it's okay for small town business to make a few bucks on you. Sometimes you pay a little more for inherent value such as customer service. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted May 18, 2013 Author Super User Posted May 18, 2013 I got all of them done today. $650 but I needed it done before Friday. Heading out of town so had to work with the time frame. Thanks for the suggestion s. Quote

Nice little site and will remember for any time in the future. I had to get it done this weekend. From what I see, I would have saved only about 50 bucks by ordering online. If I had a better time frame and not in such a hurry I'd done it. Quote

Either way the tons of reviews are an excellent way to help one choose what might be the best tire / Buy. Also you could print off the price quote and use it for a possible price match locally.
