Need some tips on fishing with buzzbaits and other topwater lures.

With other topwater lures i can give you some tips, it all about your presentations.

With the spooks, the topedo's and poppers its the move and pause presentation. I like to twitch it three short moves and pause. The length of the pause time wise can be wether we catch fish or not. Now with the three moves the speed matters too. The timing matters too.

Now if the fish are breaking on the top i like to cast either past the breaks or i like to go to the right or left side past the break too. Then i work the topwater baits slowly but close to the area were the break was. Normally i don't bring my lure into the area were the break was if i have room to cast to the right or the left of the area.

I also fish the sameway with spinnerbaits too. And the biggest thing is how our lures hit the waters surface too. I like to make a side cast and as soft as i can when it hits the water. We have to be very stealthy too and quiet. I've seen fish spook with very little noise. I had a large bass two feet infront of me when i cleared my throat and i watched the Vee shape on top of the water as it exited from me.

I say this because everything works together and when we do it exactly right we catch fish and one mistake and its over.

On a slow day i like to practice presentations with all my lures.

I can't give you to much advice on what you wrote, except to make sure you feel the fish before setting the hook.

What is a good buzzbait and when and where should i use it...Also what colors work the best?

Buzz baits are less about color than they are about location and timing.  Fish 'em along and around cover and just keep 'em comming.  I love to fish buzzers, but put mine away when the sun touches the water.  Having said that, I have seen guys catch fish on 'em all day long so give 'em a try and see what happens.

Keep them wet!! Topwaters are very effective and can catch numbers as well as size. Don't be under any preconceived notions as to when they shouldn't be used, as my partners and I have caught a lot of fish on them when we weren't supposed to, i.e., mid-afternoon on sunny days.

Reel as slow as you can with it still making a 'bloop bloop bloop' sound. Rhrow around cover and along the shoreline. I've had the most success with buzzbaits early morning or late evening into night. Also with black and white colors.

3/8 ounce black Cavitron buzzbait.

Use them around shallow cover and structure (i've had the best success with them around wood)

Like everyone else said, early morning and at dusk are great times, but I've also had success during the day when there's a little bit of wind breaking up the surface.

x2 I love those Cavitrons just got some in and they look and sound amazing, use trailer hooks! I missed some little bass toady (every bass counts)
