Since largemouth have bigger mouths obviously they can inhale larger baits than smallies. Do I need smaller jigs for small mouth? Or should I trim the skirts?

I prefer finesse type skirts for smallmouth and full skirts for largemouth.

The only thing I change is location and jig head.  I fish rocks, and a little deeper.  I prefer football heads for rocks.

I am with J on this one.

Its amazing what a smallie can fit in that smaller mouth.  J is right.  Its usually the location that is different.

Uh huh.  I'm not the only person to catch smallies on 6" hard swimbaits, lol.

Zara spook original here.

I look at it like those little bluegills that some how get a 4/0-5/0 jig hook in their mouth.

Agree with the above about location. More times than not im fishing football heads for smallies.

Just as the others said, it is more of a location thing but based on the location I will use different jigs.  I never use flipping jigs for smallies but I have caught them on flipping jig but football heads are used more often just because it works in rocks and that is where you normally find smallies, in the riocks.
