lakeannaangler Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Siebert outdoors makes amazing jigs, true works of art. I also like Dave's tournament tackle which I believe is based out of north Carolina, nice spinnerbaits and shaky heads. Deep creek lures makes very nice plastics, I like their finesse and ribbon tail worms, they are based out of Dunn north Carolina. Double d jigs are also very nice, he is located in Edinburgh Virginia. As you can see I like supporting smaller companies. 1 Quote
Basseditor Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 There are hundreds if not thousands of these. If you're into Facebook, try searching groups. Fishing Flea Market comes to mind. 1 Quote
Kyhokie Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I order soft plastics from 4-5 "companies" (read: some guy pouring plastics in his basement) that i found on Instagram. Great place to look for independent lure makers. Quote
primetime Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Bitter's baits here in Central Florida has a fantastic soft bait line up, tons of colors that are unique, designed for many Florida Specific lakes, but at the end of the day, a good color is a good color. They do $50 free shipping, and you get 2 bags of baits for $5. All top quality soft baits & $50 can load you up for a year. Producto is another company that makes some nice baits at really good prices in bulk since they are an OEM and pour in house. If you just go to the section on this site for lure companies, you can often find good deals if you call niche companies or companies like Culprit, Bass Assassin etc. They sometimes will have jig heads and terminal tackle at really good prices....I also like to buy stuff from the Barlows, Lure craft, Skirts Unlimited, component companies. Hagens fish is also good for terminal tackle like treble hooks, and grubs etc. Bitter's baits here in Central Florida has a fantastic soft bait line up, tons of colors that are unique, designed for many Florida Specific lakes, but at the end of the day, a good color is a good color. Kind of like Commercials on TV.....Everyone has bills to pay and a job to do. Nothing wrong with Capitalism. Nothiing wrong buying from whichever company you like, big or small but it is always good to have local connections and visit local tackle shops since Online Retailer's like Amazon are really killing them. It is hard to get good info if planning a trip to a big lake without stopping by the local bait shop, sometimes just listening to other's talk can lead you in the right direction, so if you need a pack of hooks etc. It may be worth paying a few bucks more every so often. 2 Quote
Frenchman83 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Chum Daddy baits is a good local guy in Indiana. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted August 18, 2016 Super User Posted August 18, 2016 Flashover Baits out of Kentucky is really good for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Outlaw Baits out of Florence Oregon makes an excellent tube and Cabin Creek in Idaho. Brad Schoenborn of Brad's Wigglers is a friend of mine. His Bait, although a STS staple is a great mid depth wiggle wart type bait with super finishes. There a soft bait maker who sells out of Phil's Propellers in Redding California. Incredible stuff there too. The list goes on forever. There's some real jewels out there we have never heard of. Quote
Jaderose Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I use a LOT of soft plastics from a very small company ou of Butler Missouri called Sure-Fire Baits. If you're on Facebook (which is where you will find a ton of small makers) here is his site. https://www.facebook.com/Sure-Fire-Baits-564553220233779/ Quote
Nathan Burton Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Dude, you have got to try some Cabin Creek Baits based out of Kentucky. Known for their tubes and worms. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 18, 2016 Super User Posted August 18, 2016 I like to use Chompers. They are made in Missouri. I would describe them as a smallish company with regional distribution. They are pretty strong in the Ozark lakes. I've seen Crock-o-gator , a brand primarily out of LOZ distributed in Kansas City. Super User fishwizzard Posted August 18, 2016 Super User Posted August 18, 2016 Mods please close this thread, I have enough plastics already and do not need more ideas! I will contribute a favorite of mine, Eiron Breaker Lure Company. The guy sells jigs and jigheads, the latter of which are a staple of my tackle collection. 1 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I've found some Facebook/Instagram custom pourers and while many just copy molds of existing baits, the advantage of using them is that they usually can make them to order in any custom color/flake combinations that you request. My favorite custom pour person is Paul Krew who has some unique and amazing color patterns, as well as a good variety of molds. My favorite "buy online" small company is Western Plastics which are sold through Angler's Arsenel. Their sweepers and drop shot lures are awesome, and offer unique colors you can't find anywhere else (especially if you like translucent plastics with subtle color). They also offer custom colors but their stock colors are more than enough. Also I like to visit local mom and pop tackle shops whenever I'm travelling because most usually carry small locally made plastics/lures I'll have never heard of and I always try to grab a couple of those and throw them in my "secret weapon" Sterlite bin back home. Super User Catt Posted August 19, 2016 Super User Posted August 19, 2016 Terry Oldham's Jigs Terry prefers to take orders by phone, this will insure availability of the colors and style you select. 1 Quote

YoTone Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 I like the tactical anglers power clips. they dont even have a working website. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 +1 on the build and quality of the tactical angler power clips. Only wish they made them in a smaller size, they seem more for saltwater! Quote

He was the originator of the humdinger spinnerbait but he sold it to another company many years ago..no his bass trap spinnerbaits are great... The sacalait color (what people not from the south call crappie) is killer here in southern louisiana It just so happens that the owner of Slam Dunk lures is a close relative of mine. I fish with him on a fairly regular basis. The Bass Trap spinnerbait and the Thumper Jigs were probably the most used lures around here for quite a few years and won many tournaments. He first started Humdinger lures back in the early 1980's and then sold it to a local fisherman. He then started Slam Dunk Lures a couple of years later. I still have quite a few of the sacalait color skirts. They can be a killer in the Lake Verrett and Atchafalaya Basins. Quote
