BassinNCstyle Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Hello all Has any one ever used 10lb yo zuri altra soft on a spinning reel? I was thinking about moving up from 6lb to 10lb but concerned about ease of use with line at 10lb. Thanks Quote
fishking247 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Should be ok i generally don't go any heavier than 8lb on a spinning reel for bass Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 16, 2013 Super User Posted May 16, 2013 IMO it's all about diameter and how well the line manages on YOUR spinning gear. I mainly use braided lines on my spinning gear, with a couple of exceptions that I do not use for bass fishing. Quote
thehooligan Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I had the 8lb on my core and it was a really manageable line, i wouldnt hesitate to put 8lb on a 2500 size spinning reel. You could probally get away with 10lb though... Quote
Super User Teal Posted May 16, 2013 Super User Posted May 16, 2013 Ive used traditional mono in 10lb on a spinning reel in the 2500 size and it was fine. YO Zuri Ultra should be more than fine. Managability should not be an isssue. The ultra soft was design specifically for spinning gear. Quote
skeletor6 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 The breaking strength of yozuri is pretty high I would go with a smaller diameter regardless if 10lb is viable. Quote
jerzeeD Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I am currently running p-line CX and flouroclear in 12 lb. on 3 out of 4 of my main spinning rigs. One for cranks, one for spinnerbaits/swimbaits, and the other for t-rigs and split shot rigs. As said above, line diameter is more important than lb. rating. Quote
jeepnkal Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 All yo zuri lines are legit! I use everything from there HD leaders, hybrid and ultra soft. You can tie up a wild boar with 6lb and not worry. Quote
Arv Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I just put 10# Ultra Soft on my spinning set up. I'll let you know how it does when I get a chance to take it out. Hopefully tomorrow Quote
