Unknownwaters Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Hey guys, I just subscribed to BASSMASTER magazine and am waiting on the free gift bag you get with a subscription and was wondering if anyone else on this forum uses it and could tell me what they think? I have been wanting to get a tackle bag (I currently use a hard tackle box my dad gave me) and was wondering if the bassmaster one would work or if I should get something else. How many plano boxes and soft plastic bags can it hold? Are the pockets big enough for several spinnerbaits? Really just need a general idea of its size and carrying capacity because I cannot tell much from the photos. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted May 15, 2013 Super User Posted May 15, 2013 It only really has 2 compartments. The inside can hold 3 360 Plano boxes (pretty sure they're 360's) and you could probably cram as many as 8-10 bags of plastics in the front zipper pocket. I don't use it though. If packed with all this stuff, it leaves 0 room for anything else. No needle nose pliers, no scale, no camera, no hooks or sinkers (unless you have them in one of your Plano boxes). I've thought about just using it for soft plastics which would leave me more room in my tackle bag for my hard baits. It's ok I guess for just a quick hour or 2 trip bank fishing but if you have a lot of stuff, you might want to look at something a bit bigger. But then again, you might be ok with it. Being small, it will limit what you carry and you won't be lugging 20 pounds of gear around with you. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 15, 2013 Super User Posted May 15, 2013 it is a small bag! It is ok, not a high end bag but it works for my drop shot and jika rig stuff! Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted May 15, 2013 Super User Posted May 15, 2013 Like stated, it is very small. I use mine for holding spools of line, and I have another I use for a bunch of flip/pitch style baits. They're handy little bags but not fit for entire tackle organization. 1 Quote
Dyerbassman Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Use it for soft plastics. Its a lot smaller than BASS makes it look! Quote
Skeeter Driver Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Ditto to that posted by Dyerbassman. I use mine for go-to baits during tournaments. The color and style of the bag is very different from my primary bags so its very easy to find in a pinch. Not a bad bag at all -- but keep in mind in order for it to be cost effective for BASS, they need to keep the cost down. It's not industrial strength that is for sure ... but clearly useable. -- 1 Quote
