rowyourboat Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 most of my home lakes have bluegill as the primary forage.... so what are some good swimbaits that imitate them? thanks!!!! Quote
JohnMac Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Matt lures blue gill will do the job that is if you have a swimbait rod to throw them Quote
gobig Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 There are several good bluegill baits out there. Mattlures is one of them. JSJ snack size bluegill, Black Dog Shell Cracker (and mini cracker) and Tylures Kicker Sunfish are also good baits. Quote
Gorgebassman Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 no question about it just like the others mattlures Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 3, 2010 Super User Posted June 3, 2010 This is one where I totally agree with Matt, his Ultimate Bluegill is the Mac Daddy Quote
Randall Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Matt's gills are the best. Not only do they look like the real thing but they swim like bluegills as well. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 3, 2010 Super User Posted June 3, 2010 How well do the Mattlures hold up? I have 5 of the hardgills and currently two ultimate bluegills (soft) left after giving some to non-believers. I have one particular Male Hardgill that seems to be on my line more than the others. It is beat up from me throwing it against things, stepping on it in the boat and generally beating the crap out of it. I have caught fish ranging from 10 inches up to 6-4lbs on this bait and it works (to me) as well or better than the day I bought it. The hard baits are durable, for sure. If you follow the directions for soft bait care on Matt's site, you will find them to last for quite a few fish as well. Quote

Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 4, 2010 Super User Posted June 4, 2010 Like Spead said, really good. I've tossed mine against the rocks at dvl..w/o it so much as getting a scuff on it.. ;D BTW, Matt's customer service, is second to None.. How well do the Mattlures hold up? Quote
chromedog Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I also like, believe it or not, the H2O Express sunfish swimbaits are pretty good. Only used them a couple of times so I am not sure about how durable they are, but they move and look real nice in the water. Quote
