Anyone ever use a rage craw on a shay head jig? I've only used worms but thought it might be worth giving a try.

Yep.

Worth a try.

I don't fish them on a shakey head but I do fish them quite a bit on a gitzit head. It seems that when they touch and tip over on the side is when the bass picks them up. I got the idea when I stnned a live craw and he rolled over.

Ive had better sucess using the baby rage craw rather than the full size. Seems to balance better.

I use them frequently. Not my first choice but a good setup when the straight tail worm isnt working.

Try a Whopper Baits Boxing Craw. Perfect crawfish bait for a shakeyhead.

I fish them a lot on a shaky head.  Typically I throw them on a 1/4 oz Zenith head.  I caught quite a few of them on the road trip like this.  My newly found bait for shaky heads is the menace.  Both have a time and place.

A great subtle technique is to take the 1/8 or 1/16oz flick shake heads with the wire guard and rig a small craw like the baby rage, net bait tiny paca or PTL craw d'oeuvre on it and just barely crawl it against the rocks and timber.  Just the right size tasty morsel for a finicky tight lipped bass.  The added benefit is that it doesn't require a monster hookset and it is so light the fish won't realize that it is a weighted presentation and spit it.

I used this setup last week to test the new-to-me Ci4 I just bought here on BR and landed 15 bass and one channel cat in under 30 minutes at a local pond.

I actually have tried this before. I used the white color rage craw on a 1/4 ounce booyah football shakey head. I caught about 5 bass on that rig. Its a good shakey head craw because of its solid long body.

I would definitely suggest trying it.

Its always good to try new techniques

Good luck fishin

I'm a little late to this party. But, I've had a lot of fun fishing the rage craw on a shakey head for smallmouth in the river. Where I fish it's not very deep. I'm talking 2 to 4 feet and the occasional 5-10 foot hole. My setup is on a 6'6" ugly stick rod with a 6.4:1 abu garcia blackmax rod with 20lb power pro braid to a 18 inch fluorocarbon leader. I use a 1/8 oz ball style shakey head and a green pumpkin rage craw. I've learned that if I bite off about 1/4 inch off the rage craw that I seem to have better luck. I usually try to throw it in eddies and on the edge of faster current. The current basically does the work for you in most cases. Just one old rednecks' thoughts.
