Largemouth Bass

Does anyone have any tips on bank fishing for bass perhaps any lures or baits?  Also I live in Philadelphia, do you know of any good bass fishing spots there

Lipless crankbaits like Red Eye Shad,Rapala Rippin rap,Spro Aruka Shad. Creature baits like Fat Ika or Damiki Hydra and the ever popular Senko.

 

In my thread here, http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/118106-few-lipless-crankbait-catches/  ,if you have a lake with rocks around shore all the above have worked for me at one time or another. Right now though the lipless cranks are the ticket.

 

Aside from just the rocks they all do well for me throwing in front of/along cattails and other brush along shoreline.

The rapala dt series or any similar crankbait. Most likely a dt6  in a small pond. I like to run the bottom with my lures and kick up sand. If a dt4 runs perfect in a pond  I will throw a dt6 just to hit the bottom and smack into stumps and other hangups

I believe Roadwarrior wrote a bankfishing tip with senkos, which involves fan fishing(which can be used with just about any lure) and of course Bassresource has a video on bank fishing. Adapting the tips from those two has proved to be very beneficial in my bank fishing adventures. Check em out when you get a chance!

Almost any lure than can be used from a boat can be used from shore. I was always a big believer in moving around a lot and covering a lot of water until and if you find spots that seem to be productive. I tried to go as often as I could and make sure I was there under the supposedly better fishing potential of low light. More often than not I found that fishing parallel to or at angles to the shore was more productive, but fished a place further from shore to see if that water was one of the exceptions.

 

Mental attitude can be important too. Don't get worked up about that great-looking cover or structure that you can't reach and concentrate fully on what's within your casting range. My personal best and 4th best have come from the shore of a six-acre pond.

go to the forum search page and type 'bank fishing'. tons of great posts.  treble hook hurt from shore b/c they snag so easily and you can't paddle over to free them.  however rattletraps are very effect when the bite is on so i recommend using braid, and keeping stock hooks so you can just bend hooks out to get ur lure back.  otherwise i'd stick with senkos and jigs=kills them.

where are you in philly? i use google maps and have tons of ponds. also do you have a car?  lotta good water just over the bridge.  south jersey has an amazing water shed area full of bass and pickerel.
