Hello all my fellow Bass fisherman? I just want to see if there is anyone out there that know's any good places to catch some nice bass in Lancaster county or surrounding areas? I was born and raised in Ohio so I spent most of my life there. I have been in PA for 5 years now and just recently got back into Bass fishing. I have tried a few lakes and local ponds but no luck, just some smaller Bass. Everyone I seem to talk to around here says there are no big Bass in PA. I doubt that is true!

If anyone can help me with some good locations I would appreciate it. I heard blue marsh is suppose to be good for some big bass but many say it is heavily fished like many other places around here.

All feedback welcomed. Thank's guys!

Blue Marsh has some big bass, but is tough to fish.  The largest I've caught is about 3 1/2 pounds.

Haha good one! Yes, crazy huh? Met my wife over here a long time ago and then found a pretty good job, now here I am in in Lancaster county. But yeah, I am just in need of some good locations. I have all my equipment, just need the lakes and rivers. I haven't fished many rivers, mostly lakes and ponds. I have loved Bass fishing since I was a little guy.

Really would like to invest in a little boat sometime down the line.

Blue marsh has been a dead zone for me! lol

You got the Susquehanna, smallies all over. More north you go the higher the pressure is.

Blue marsh, where you'll hear mixed stories about it being empty to 6lbrs everywhere. It's all about location.

Ontelaunee, same line as blue marsh, but no boats are allowed.

Now's the perfect time to get the map out and try out all the local small lakes and reservoirs that's public with a topwater like a spook that can cover plenty of water from the shore, that'll help find some numbers atleast.

Yeah I've always wanted to fish the Susquehanna. One guy at work said by Halifax there are some nice Bass. Ontelaunee, where is that by?

You need to go talk to Mike and George at Susquahanna fishing tackle. They're located 1226 Harrisburg Pike in lancaster. They are the local pros and am great guys to deal with. Not to mention they have the best tackle shop in the mid Atlantic area.

If you have a boat, you're an hour away from the Upper Cheasapeake Bay (aka Susquahanna Flats, aka "The Flats"). That place is friggin awesome. Huge bass, but tidal, and inherently tricky.

Seriously, stop by SFT. They'll help you out.

Shore fishing only.  I never had much luck there.

Yes I am going to do that soon. I seen on the news the other day that a lot of the bass in the Susquahanna have been looking weird.

Cheasapeake Bay my friend fishes there and said the same as you, big bass if your patient. Thank's for the help brother. Maybe I'll see you out somewhere soon lol

Susky is really close to you. Very tricky from a boat and a lot of guys do well from the shore. Blue marsh.. Well Ive fished a ton of tournaments and one day everyone can have a limit the next day your lucky if 20% of the boats even get a bite. Ive had a bunch of smallies out of there over 4 lbs but its extremely tricky with no structure. Not a stitch of weeds.

The flats are great. I spend 3-4 days a week down there. Today the tides played with me. Went 3 hours with no fish then in an hour had 5, each pushing 4 lbs. My best 5 bass limit down there was 23.1 lbs, with lots of tournaments being won with 25-26 lbs for 5. So yes, It's awesome down there, but you NEED a boat. Physically impossible to fish without one. But there is also a lot of pressure. Today I counted over 60 boats on one weed stretch on the flats. Saw one fish caught in an hour, left to go to another spot and caught all mine.

My avatar is actually from the flats actually

Yes I really would like to invest in a boat sometime down the line. I just miss catching those bass one after another like I use to at some favorite places in Ohio. I know the time will come and we all know fishing takes a lot of patients!

Thank you guys for all the knowledge. It is appreciated. Right now I have been looking around Bass pro shops for a new set up that will last me for years.

I am itching to go out to those lakes and ponds. haha
