I live in SC as well (Spartanburg), I've been tearing them up on excalibur poppers, horny toads, and buzzbaits. Either black or white colored toads and buzzbaits. For some reason they've been nailing any topwater bait I throw out.

one of the best nighttime baits for me is to throw a plastic buzz frog (i only use Canyon plastics 4.5" frog) and let it sink a little and go with a slow retrieve , letting the bait run BELOW the surface . i find this works great for in places i night fish there is no light at all , i just cast it out parallel to the shore ,about 3' out from the bank (or tullies) and just a consistent wind and when i feel a hit i pause for just a half second and then set the hook !!! ;)

I could use some RAGE TAIL Thumper worms and some Luhr Jenson Hot lips for my KY lake trip June 5 and 6!

Be careful on those red ones. The few packs I picked up used a thinner wire than the comparable size black finish ones. (Superline are even thicker) While at Gander Mountain today I also noticed some red ones that seemed comparable in thickness.

The original red ones I picked up that were thinner I was able to bend while tying a knot on one day. Now I let my kids use those and I only use the black metal ones. Until I land a huge one, I see no reason to pay the premium for a superline hook.
