gall Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 im looking for a good leader for braid right now im using p line fluroclear works great i run about 25 yards on it so if i break off i can just retie it but i tried trilene 100%fc and it was down right horrible i run 8# any suggestions would be great and anyone use toughline super cast im thinking about jumping to that Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted May 8, 2013 Super User Posted May 8, 2013 25 yards seems a little excessive for a bass leader. By the way, I think Trilene 100% fluorocarbon is pretty good line for leaders. oe Quote

Why in gods name would you use such a long leader? Of are you talking about the 25 yards is your main line backed with the Pline? Fluorocarbon on a spinning rod (I assume spinning as your using 8#), is more difficult to maintain and will have more memory that most coly polys and mono lines. Its still managable though if its spooled on correctly. Super cast is closer to a braided line. I run no more than 5-6 foot leader. I can usually retie 4-5 times before I need to use more leader. There is a guy here that catches more fish that I could shake a stick at and he uses a 2-3 foot leader, so I can't for life of me see what 25 foot would be needed. It kinda defeats the purpose of a leader. About 3/4 of my casts in a days fishing never exceed 20 feet. Quote
gall Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 maybe 25yards is an a little of an exaggeration but the reason i runa slightly longer leader is because i fish a lot of criks and its covered with rock and since i wade i run a longer leader in case it breaks off i dont have to go back and fourth but i was looking at supercast because i have that bps 8 strand the new one its ok but so p line you think is ok? and i do run 8# Quote
