Surveyor Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 What kind of rigg was Alton Jones using in this weeks Major League Fishing? It looked like a really heavy MOJO rigg or a really short carolina rigg with a 1-2 oz weight. It kinda looks like it may work to me. Especially in mucky bottoms. The bait stays off the bottom. But wouldn't a short drop-shot work just as well or better? Quote
Surveyor Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Thanks Brian but it didn't appear to be a texas rigg. Do you know how it was rigged? Quote
Brian Stucker Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 He didn't say how it was rigged in the interview. He just said what he was using. it was real effective. He pulled out a couple of nice one's. Quote
Surveyor Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 Yeah he really smoked them, and ran away with the tourney--that day anyway. Quote
Surveyor Posted May 7, 2013 Author Posted May 7, 2013 WOW didn't realize when this episode actually was. It was during hurricane "Sandy". An elimination round and AJ was the only one to get to 20 lbs. I think he caught a 7 pounder to go out with over 25 lbs. Quote
Brian Stucker Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 He smoked the field. Got me pumped just watching. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 7, 2013 Super User Posted May 7, 2013 That was impressive. Even more impressive to me was that none of the other anglers could duplicate his catches when he was out of that hole the entire 3rd round. Quote
susky killer Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I think he was pegging the weight and it was sliding up a bit after hook set and reeling in. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted May 10, 2013 Super User Posted May 10, 2013 I think he was pegging the weight and it was sliding up a bit after hook set and reeling in.That was my thought too. Nothing fancy, he was in the right spot and making perfect casts. The guy can fish. Quote
TrippyJai Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 AJ was the only angler that figured out a pattern. Although everyone was in the same small area, he knew where to make his pitches to those tall isolated grass, can't remember what they were called. I also think him using a smaller bait, yum wooly bug in the 3.25" size was the ticket as well. It kind of reminded me when Ish on Chautauqua Lake was using a heavier 1.5oz weight pitching to those docks and hammering them. So important to make these little adjustments sometimes. I love MLF!
