backpain... Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 It all depends on the situation. Springtime I almost always Texas rig my baits. When the dog days of summer hit, I will have a carolina rig, a texas rig, and a drop-shot tied on a rod at all times. I will probably have a shakee head ready as well. Quote
tcain38 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 When I fish a grub, mostly in the early spring I just use a 1/4 oz. lead head with a barb. I think it is best to use the lightest head you can on the grub so it will fall slower and have more natural action. I just thread it up on the shank and barb with the hook showing, not weedless. Its hard to rig a 3 in. grub weedless. Quote
tcain38 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 For the tubes I just use a tube head. Stick the lead through the body and expose the eye and tie on, with the right head you can make it weedless. You can also texas rig them with a small offset hook. I fish them both ways. Quote

Super User iceintheveins Posted May 28, 2010 Super User Posted May 28, 2010 With grubs and tubes I prefer to rig them on jigheads, a round one for grubs and a slip in for tubes. I only insert the leadhead in the tube about halfway and that gives the tube a really erratic, slow drop. Grubs also excel rigged texas style, as do tubes. These plastics, and others, are best rigged weedless with as little amount of weight as possible for the depth and cover conditions. Quote
