I'm taking a 9 day trip to Sam Rayburn on the 18th of May. Just trying to get some info from people who fish it. What types of lures and colors should I be bringing with me? Also if anyone is feeling generous could you tell me a few spots to go to. I'm staying on the south end of the lake near the dam. I've heard the north end is good but I've never been so it's all new to me. Thanks BR

Ive never been, but I fish Toledo Bend alot and it fishes VERY similiar to Rayburn.  Some fish will be shallow, but the majority will be deep.  Get a good map of the lake and fish ridges and humps with deep water nearby.

The boat has a lake master chip installed for Rayburn. Not really sure how they work but I believe it has a really good map on it. When you say deep what are we talking here? 20ft or 50ft

I would start by looking for breaklines in the grass...right now on Toledo that is at about 14 ft.  Fish the deep grass line, if that dont work, work your way deeper.  I fish alot of 20-30 ft on Toledo, but dont go much deeper than that.  Make sure you have plenty of 3/4 oz football jigs, 6XDs, and bama rigs.

All of what you mentioned I don't really have. I have about 10 series 5 SK cranks. Not the xd midels and no Alabama rigs at all. Maybe 2 1oz jigs. Ton of 1/2oz though. I have plenty of punch hubs/skirts and 1.5 tungsten weights. Where I live the water doesn't get that deep at most places I fish. Just tons of vegetation really.

Big bass splash is on Toledo this weekend I believe.

I fished the summer pattern with a guide a long time ago it was Carolina rigs deep in the channel. we did really well.

Cool thanks. Currently I'm sitting a DFW airport due to a huge delay. 2hrs to go still.

Well good luck and let us know how it goes...1/2 oz jigs will work, just cant fish them as fast.

It turned into a cluster F. 12:45 departure changed to 1:45 then to 3:30 and finally cancelled altogether. Luckily I was able to get a later flight. Long long day but tomorrow hopefully I'll make up for it. Sadly one of my eyelets got mangled on my Powell flippin' rod. Hopefully I can get it fixed locally on Monday.
