BigAL Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Has your go to bait been the only bait you use on your fishing outing? Quote
Super User Marty Posted May 5, 2013 Super User Posted May 5, 2013 Has your go to bait been the only bait you use on your fishing outing? Sometimes if it is producing right off the bat. I prefer to call it my favorite bait rather than go-to bait because of what the latter implies. But whatever you call them, favorite or go-to, they're worthless if you're not on fish. 2 Quote
Brian6428 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 To answer your question, yes, it has been the only bait i used on a fishing outing in the past, which is what made it my go to bait. That said, that doesn't mean I will go to the lake and use it all day if they aren't biting it. If they are biting it, though, I will definitely use it all day! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 6, 2013 Global Moderator Posted May 6, 2013 Right now my go to bait is a jerkbait. They've been eating them so well I can't hardly put it down to even try anything else. 1 Quote
Ktedz Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Watermelon red trick worm..t-rigged with an eighth weight..can't beat it Quote
hatrix Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 For me it would have to be a Huddleston Weedless Shad or a Grass Minnow. A swim jig would come in at a really close seond to those. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 6, 2013 Super User Posted May 6, 2013 Once or twice if it is producing. I will throw it as long as the bass want it. Quote
ColdSVT Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 my two go to baits are a T-rigged Sweet beaver or a black and blue jig you will always find two rods set up like that on the deck and usually one of them is in my hand that is until deep crankin time comes in my area. but i still keep the beaver and the jig on deck Quote
pbrussell Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Right now my go to bait is a jerkbait. They've been eating them so well I can't hardly put it down to even try anything else. Go ahead and rub it in Quote
Trailer Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 No, but it gets used quite a bit more. If I'm getting bit on my go-to I won't stop. If I can't seem to get a bite where I think I should, I'll go to the finesse side and make a few casts. If nothing bites on the finesse then I'm right back to the go-to. I'd rather get skunked with a bait I have confidence in if I'm going to get skunked. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted May 6, 2013 Super User Posted May 6, 2013 Right now its a spinnerbait to find them and a split shot rig to clean them up. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 6, 2013 Super User Posted May 6, 2013 No, my go to hasn't been my only bait. A lot of everything has been working. Quote
unageo09 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Watermelon red trick worm..t-rigged with an eighth weight..can't beat it Put it on a shaky head jig. That works too! Quote
rcr1959 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 I always have 2 of my favs tied on at all times. I rotate lures on other rods. Quote
