I read an article some time ago that the older Wiggle Warts were prized by several pros ( Mark Davis and Stacy King ) because they were produced from a different mold and produce better than the new ones.  Anyone have any info on this?  Also, I throw Brad's Wigglers instead of the Storm Wiggle Wart.  Anyone else try them and have an opinion on them ?

I don't have any info on where to go to research it, but I find a few on several fishing sites from time to time.

I firmly believe the old original warts are far and away better than the newer ones. They are getting pricy, but I have paid for them when I can find them. They only get fished when the money is on the line and they make a difference for me.

You can find them on ebay at times, but be sure you know what you are looking at. There are a few that try to pawn off the later models for the older ones.

Some are going to say old Warts were "better", I 've got old Storm Warts, got new Warts when Normark purchased Storm, got new old style Warts when Normark discontinued the new warts and began manufacturing new old style Warts, so which ones are better ? none above the other, I think of them as being 3 different lures sharing the same name, pretty much like Curado reels, completely different animal with the same name.

So, there are days when one version murders the fish and there are days they won 't even sniff at it.

I have quite a few old WW's but none of the new.  Since I've never fished them side by side myself I can't say for sure but the guys I know that are WW addicts say the old are better.

If you look at the 2 though,  the old baits have the mold seam ridge down the back that on most of the baits is rather rough.  The new baits are smooth.  It seems odd that the worse looking of the 2 baits (build wise) is the better bait.

BTW, I have no experience with the Brads Wigglers but those have been sold on Ebay for quite awhile and come up under a wiggle wart search.

but occasionally you will get one that seems to just out produce the others.

True, some cranks do produce better than others, in theory all cranks, specially plastic cranks should be equal, but that 's not the case, most of them are equal, but there are alawys a few ones that for one reason or the other produce more, little "flaws" during the manufacturing process create a different bait which can create a bad or an out of the ordinary bait, when you getone of those baits that outproduces others it 's time to study it in detail and when you go and purchase cranks try to find one with the same characteristics, not an easy task.

I totally agree.  They all do have different actions, but it couldn't be said better...treat them as different baits and switch 'em up until they start hittin'!!
