I need some input on the quality and what you goys like about the Bass Pro tackle bags? Specifically I am looking at the Extreme Qualifier 370 tackle bag and the Extreme Qualifier 360 Backpack. ANY INPUT IS APPRECIATED! I don't have a BPS near me to see in person.

The 370 tackle bag to me would seem like a good choice because it would hold the large plano boxes I currently have in my plano box. It would also seem to have more storage pckets for a poweraid or other refreshments, plus tools and whatnot. The downside is that it is a shoulder strap not a backpack and I am not sure how my stuff would look after I tipped every 3700 box I have on its side repeatedly.

The backpack would seem to be better suited for longer walks to the pond and for carrying more boxes. They also sit horizontal so no extra mixing of baits that you might have sorted however. The downside I see is that I would need to buy more boxes instead of just grabbing boxes out of my Plano box. I also don't see as many side pockets for storing other stuff.

Either way, a shoulder strap or backpack has to be easier on my arms than trying to continue carrying my loaded Plano guide series box on my 1/2- 1 mile trek to the ponds that I fish.

How many different baits/lures do you really use during your typical trip? Do you honestly use enough to justify carrying multiple 3700-series boxes?

Once you figure out your local pond/lake, you ought to be able to figure out what will work and what won't based on the area you're fishing, weather, time of day, and time of year. Pack that stuff and leave the unnecessary stuff at home.

I've found that I can fish an entire day from the bank carrying nothing more than a Plano 4600

( http://www.***.com/Plano_Guide_Series_Two_Tier_Stowaway_4600/descpage-PGSTT46.html ) and a small soft-sided lunch box full of soft plastics...and will only use maybe 10% of what I brought.

I have the backpack and fully loaded it's heavy!  But, you can fit a ton of stuff in it.

If I'm fishing a place where I'll be walking a lot I use a smaller pack.

stasher1, my Plano box has 2 -3700 boxes in it plus a worm binder I have stashed where a thrid box can go. Then i have all my hooks and a few odd tools on the top of the box. By no means will I be able to fill either of these things up, or even want to carry that much weight. However, why buy small and then realize you want to stuff some clothing or a jacket in there, or maybe even another box for a new lake? I'd rather go bigger with something I can sling over my shoulders.

And to be honest I still haven't figured out what colors work. I've fished half a dozen or more ponds this year. Caught bass at one and even then there was no one color. Craw brown crayfish, brown and chart lam Senko, Metholiate Senko, silver glitter Senko.... Well you get the picture. Everyone keeps saying pumpkin and watermelon but those two colors haven't caught me SH$ anywhere yet.

I carry a military standard issue allice pack with 3 370 boxes full of anything plastic, two smaller boxes for topwaters and shallow cranks, with another box that just fits a deep diver. on top of all that I carry a cd wallet with spinnerbaits and jigs.

I would suggest the military back packs. they hold a lot and have giant pockets on the front.

I've got one of the XPS Stalker Bags.  Love mine.  I had one of the extreme qualifier backpacks and wasn't really happy with it.

The Pro Qualifier bags aren't worth the money.  Poor stitching on the seams, junk zippers, etc.

Take a look at the Cabela's Advanced Angler series of bags.

Sorry, this is the one that I have.  I like it and have used it for 3 years now.

x3 holds everything I need and then some. I use it for co-angling. I can even put my lunch and rain gear in the side pockets.

I have the same XPS bag as pictured by b.Lee, has worked out well. Can carry a ton of stuff, using it as a backpack makes it easier to carry because it is heavy when full, and no issues with it holding up to abuse.

lol, it figures...

out of stock.

I also like the idea above about the army surplus backpack. Not necessarily made to certain specifications, but might be a lot more durable than anything else.

3 370 size boxes fits perfectly in the bottom

If you are going to carry a bag on your back for 1/2+ mile hell, the more you carry the more it weights and you ain 't a mule.

I do a lot of foot patrol, yeah I own a boat but there are places I can 't carry it, so foot patrol ( something I 've been doing for most of my life ) is my main way to fish. I found a small bag which holds a 3600 size box in the larger compartmet and 2 small compartments where I carry other stuff, doesn 't weight a ton and now that I come think about it ..... don 't know what 's the reason for me carrying a big bunch of stuff when I fish from the boat while I 'm capable of fishing with a much smaller and lighter amount of lures.  :-?

I started using a BPS Stalker bag this year. The one with the shoulder strap, not the backpack version (only because the backpack version wasn't available). Most of my fishing is from a canoe, so portability wasn't a huge issue for me anyway.

I couldn't be happier with it. I have 6 370 size boxes in the main compartment, a Falcon spinnerbait pocket in one of the side pockets, and misc items in the other side pocket. Great bag, but I can't speak to durability issues because I haven't had it too long. Seems very well made though. Hope to have it a long time. 10 out of 10 in my book.

I have one of the red BPS 370 bags. I've had it for 3 years now. Holds a lot of stuff but it weighs a ton. I'll take it if I'm going to be in a boat, but I'll take my old hard tacklebox if I'm fishing from the bank.
