Recommendations For Rain Gear

I will be fishing in the rain this weekend, which is a first for me. What are some good rain gear setups in the $100-$150 range?

For that price, Field&Stream available at Dicks. I've got a set. Decent gear.

Frog Togs.

Excellent rain gear and only about $60 at Academy

I have a nice set of Columbia rain gear. Light weight breathable, think it retailed around $80 for the set. It was a gift so not entirely sure.

Marmot Precip jacket and pants are in your range and perform well.  Personally i get cheap rain pants because they seem to get beat up no matter what price point your are in and the breathability factor isn't as important.

The BPS stuff is sold individually. but if you buy the bibs and jacket it should be around $150 total, could be cheaper than that because it goes on sale pretty often.

 

 

 

Edit - I just checked Bass Pro's website, the price is little higher than $150 for the complete set. I guess the price has gone since I bought mine a few years back.

i just use the $30-40 ones from wal-mart and works fine comes with hooded top and pants and is breathable ...ive been using the same set for a couple years now and still in good condition

Frog Todds are really good as are the BPS rain suits.

Frog Toggs Toadskinz....pretty sweet. Bibs 59, jacket 69.... pants 49.-59.... Very nice for the price!

Do not skimp on rain gear - bad idea.   Be aware that there are different kinds of rain.  Rainy & cold - (45 degrees or less), rainy  & chilly (45-55)  rainy & cool (55-70 )  rainy & OK temp wise (70+)

 

Call me silly, buy I've got different rain gear for different conditions.  Cabela's Guide Wear for cold to chilly conditions, an older 10X goretex jacket & pants, several sets of Frogg Toggs for milder conditions.  For cold to cool conditions, I wear 1 or 2 sets of polarfleece long underwear as necessary.

 

Fishing is fun, but it isn't any reason to miss days of work next week because you got a nasty cold.   JMO, but I wouldn't go budget on rain gear - it ain't worth it.

 

A few years ago at a sports show I found a Polar Fleece 300 suit.  Jacket with full zipper, high waisted pants with zippers to the knees.   It was around $110 give or take, I don't remember.  This suit with long underwear underneath it and the frogg toggs over it to beat the wind is good to 40 degree weather and it is what I wear most of the time.   However, if you will be in a bass boat and subject to the breezes you encounter while running in a bass boat, there isn't any substitute for Cabela's Guide Wear, or something else of that quality.

For spring thru fall, you can get a great value for FROG TOGGS.

If you are looking for cold weather rain gear, then i really like the BPS lines.

ah yeah if it gets cold where you live get some nice ones that will keep you warm and such but im in south florida lol its summer here most of the year hahaha

Forget the frog toggs go with the columbia pfg bibs / jacket. It is made to get beat up and it has tons of pockets. Honestly it is above your price range but great rain gear is worth it. Columbia also sells cheaper rain gear that works just as well it just isnt geared towards fishing. Simms makes great rainsuits as well.

This is important!

Personally I have 2 sets. For cold weather I have the BPS Pro Qualifier bibs and jacket combo with zip in liner jacket. For milder weather, I have a much thinner jacket and pants combo. Having the wrong rain gear can make a day of fishing miserable
