bartdude186 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I was fishing in a local lake today that i knew had some monster bass in it so i was throwing a Zoom Magnum Fluke. Out of nowhere i felt something i thought was weeds on my line. i pulled up a crappie that was a good 1 1/2 inches shorter than my fluke. all alone in my kayak i found myself cracking up laughing. What a brave little fish. Quote

Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted May 3, 2013 Super User Posted May 3, 2013 Nice! I had a small bluegill take a swipe at my crankbait today right at the bank. He couldn't have been much more than 2 inches bigger than the bait. Didn't hook him but he was an ambitious little guy. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Got a bunch of these last week fishing for bass... Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Cool little fish I caught in florida, sometype of snapper I believe. Quote
derekxec Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 thats a Lane Snapper ahah all the little fish have bigger eyes than their mouth lol Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 4, 2013 Global Moderator Posted May 4, 2013 I catch more crappie fishing for bass than I do fishing for crappie every year. It's often surprising how big of a bait they'll try to eat. I had a 15.5 inch crappie eat a Zoom Horny Toad in a pond several years ago right after catching a 5lb bass off the same spot. This little guy hit this 1/2oz jig so hard that my line jumped while it was sinking, just like the big bass I was hoping to catch would do. Quote
bartdude186 Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 haha its fun to see what everyone else is catching on accident. last year i caught a 5 pound catfish on a paca craw and thought i had a record bass on the hook, man was i disappointed.made for a nice meal though! Quote

From the same lake as that little crappie on the jig, also on one of my homemade jigs and 14lb test. Quote
gripnrip Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I caught a decent sized crappie last weekend during a tournament. I was using a shell cracker rigged on a 1/4oz keel weighted swimbait hook. I was pitching it to visible tree tops and as I swam it through the top and it hit the shell cracker. Quote
