romeo Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I think I will head to occoquan regional park and launch my little 12 ft inflatable there...Is the area north of the boat ramp and under the overpass of Ox road a good place? Quote
quanjig Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Not sure you are going to have a viable place to launch along the shore line there as it's all private property along there. The only place to launch is actually at the park ramp. Quote
s freud Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Went out Sunday from 5:00 to after dark with only one little guy to show for it. Tried a new cove that looked promising, but didn't turn out that way, tried spinnerbait, weightless worms, Carolina rigs, frog, and crankbaits in various colors. Even stayed out later than usual to try my large black spinnerbait after dark without even a nibble. Quote
BB* Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Finally got out to Riverbend Park today, but could only put in a couple of hours. Caught a couple small smallmouths using watermelon 5" senko's that I cut in half. Water was clear down to the bottom and you could see pretty big catfish swimming around. It was my first time there on a canoe and I feel I wasnt in the best area to fish for them. I'm studying maps more and will try out some different areas next time. Quote
quanjig Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Had to venture out on the res and check out water situation with all the rain we had! Launched from fountainhead and the water was chocolate milk. I tried some cuts and creeks near the launch and missed a few flipping a beaver. Long story short, lots of missed fish, lots of smallish fish and one good one! Didn't weigh her but I'm guessing close to 5 Quote
