And was wondering if its worth buying it for 7800?  But i lower it to 6500. We are still trying to set up a ride test to fit our schedule.  things i already ask.

clean title-yes

he is the second owner

previous records-no

he also state everything is working in excellent condition

seller does not know the hrs

is there anything else i should ask?

Check all the decks and reach back up into the transom for any rot. Youll be able to tell right away if there is. On the deck just walk around on every square inch of it to feel for soft spots. If you could take it to a mechanic and get them to look it over thats even better. Check when the water pump was last changed, because if it hasnt been changed in a while you could be looking at an initial expense (even though they arent that much). Pull the trolling motor and outboard props and check for fishing line. Also the condition of the props can tell a story in themselves. The more worn they are, the bigger beating the boat took.

Also get on your back, crawl under the hull and look with a flashlight for any major scratches

Check the max HP, how close is the 60HP to the max. An underpowered boat will drive you crazy.

I will definitely check what you state Dink.  And the 60 hp got me thinking to because i too feel that it may be under power for what i want to do.  Now this got me thinking maybe i might pass this boat up.  And search for a 150hp, just because i would love to adventure out on my lakes and not wasting my time to hit the hot spots.  Thanks for the reply's

Look closely at the tires for wear on the outside and look at the axle for any kind of bend.

I bought a great boat and trailer and after about 3k miles completely ate up the tires. Now I'm having a new axle up in and then a new set of tires.

I'm still happy with my purchase and would have bought the boat and trailer anyway, but it would have been nice to know about it up front.

Shopping used boats is exhausting......have fun!

You must be in wisconsin too.  I looked at that same boat. Not worth the price with that outboard on it IMO

I would think 6500 is too much for an eight year old 16 foot boat with a 60 hp motor.  :wink2:

It's that time of year where everyone thinks their 45 year old 10ft riveted jon with a 10hp johnson is worth 4 grand.

It is what it is. I just sold a 9 year old 17ft tin with a 90 for 9k.

i have an 04 nitro 640lx  with a 60hp...it's alittle under powered but i fish alone most of the time so it's not an issue..other than that i have no complaints....

I bet that isn't the original motor on that boat.  Those boats are usually rated for a 90 to a 150 I believe.  When I get to where I can purchase a boat I will not buy anything that isn't a 115 and up.   Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is the original motor for that boat, Tracker boats offers what appear to be great deals on boats but you will they are way underpowered to achieve the lower price.

my 640lx came with a 60 hp mercury and so did 3 others i looked at......so it's probabley the same motor....it was the standard hp unless you wanted to pay extra to upgrade to a 90hp

That seems expensive for a 16' Nitro. I live in jersey & the there's a similar 16' Nitro w/a 40hp for $2000. Its a little older & needs a trolling motor but as a comparison it still seems like a lot.

As your first boat have you considered aluminum? You can get a REALLY nice aluminum bass boat in that price range.
