zero Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 today i went to potomac with a boater and he was using crankbait and he caught like 10-15 bass in 2 hours i tried copy his ways i couldnt get anything what crankbait color is good for stained water what color good for clear-stained Quote
bigtimfish Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I may be wrong but for stained water I use chartruese. Not full but mixed in with other colors like purple or blue. And for clear I try to go as natural as possible. Bluegill, sunfish, and shad patterns. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 slightly confused...why not just copy exactly what your friend was doing successfully??? Quote

zero Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 firetiger he caught a lot while i caught none Quote
BobP Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Firetiger is really good around and over grass and there are lots of firetiger baits available. Why try to reinvent the wheel? Quote
Super User Munkin Posted May 24, 2010 Super User Posted May 24, 2010 I fish both the lower and upper Potomac and can tell you a LC 1.5 in Copper Perch is the best all around crank. So far it has produced in every body of water in this state under any water clarity conditions. The only thing with it is the catfish in Mattawoman Creek like it. Allen Quote

guitarkid Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 also, look at the profile of the bait, you could both be using the same color, but the action of the bait probably has more relevance than the color does. -gk Quote

D4u2s0t Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 instead of worrying about the color, I would focus on making a better retrieve, and casting to better locations. those 2 things will far outweigh the color you tie on. if he outfished you by that much, you should have asked what he was doing that you weren't. that would have been an amazing source of information.
