ghost Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Some stores have them now, I bought a Scatter Rap Shad(Ike's Carribean Shad color) and a Scatter Rap crank(Ike's Old School color). I've tried both out, the Scatter Rap Crank casts a little bit better than the Scatter Rap Shad. Swimming action, yeah it scatters on a medium retrieve but it start going to the side and up when it's cranked in faster. Not sure if I really like it, I really didn't like the price or the color selection I bought, BPS only carried a few colors and these 2 colors caught my eye. What's your take on the Scatter Raps? Caught any bass/fish on the Scatter Rap? What retrieve works best for you? What color did you get and which model? Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted May 1, 2013 Super User Posted May 1, 2013 I do like the action but I haven't caught anything on it yet. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted May 1, 2013 Super User Posted May 1, 2013 I caught a couple on the shad version when the water was a little colder. It does have pretty good action and i have found it works better thrown on M spinning gear than baitcasting gear myself. I do wonder how it will be in vegetation or wood cover with that curved lip but i think it will be really good in rocky bottom rivers for smallies. Hopefully i can test my theory out this weekend. Super User tomustang Posted May 1, 2013 Super User Posted May 1, 2013 You can get them at Wally World now and most Dick's. It's still cold here but the (a cooler transitional species) pickerel here are liking them. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted May 1, 2013 Super User Posted May 1, 2013 Saw one in the water, wasn't too impressed. I also noticed the tendency to roll. We were fishing jerkbaits and I really wasnt impressed when fishing them like a traditional jerk. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 The bluegill pattern is really nice. Caught a few on it. Not going to change the industry though. And Pickeral will bite a turd with a hook in it Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted May 2, 2013 Super User Posted May 2, 2013 I was impressed with the action, throwing them on 10 pound mono and a baitcaster. They dive about 4' - 5' or around the same as a DT4. Only fished them a little bit, had one hit but not long enough to really make a verdict. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I haven't had a chance to get mine wet yet. This spring has been too cool, and mother natures seems to arrange rain every time I have a day off. Soon though, with any luck... Quote
ghost Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 What do you guys think bout changing out the hooks to a kvd wide gap short size 4 in front and size 6 in back, I mean will changing the hooks to a wide gap mess with the way the scatter rap swims? This is in regard to the crank and shad scatter raps. Quote
tylerwyp Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Picked a shad firetiger and crank bluegill up a few weeks ago. Just tried the shad the other day and was very impressed. I caught 5 in 30 minutes! I may say it casts awful but was still impressed with the extremely unpredictable action. Its safe to say its one of my new confidence baits after catching a 3.25 lber on the 3rd cast. Quote
kylek Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I just picked up 2 of the cranks and can't wait for it to warm up enough to head back out. Quote

sarcazmo Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Bought 3 the other day. Gonna give em a shot this Tuesday/Wednesday. Quote
Got1Fishing Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I bought 7 of them in all colors and types... Haven't caught anything on them yet... Maybe it's because I don't fish them with confidence... Too afraid of losing one haha. Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Fished a jig a couple hours yesterday to shore, docks, and first dropoff with limited success. Figured the last hour I would try my new bluegill scatter rap crank. Caught four decent bass on it. Couple close to the shore and two off a bit. Did not go as deep as I thought on 20# power pro. I will def throw it again and may buy a shad color scatter shad Quote
