dam0007 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Ok so I wanted to grab a older Curado for the hell of it. Ordered a 201e7 from amazon, it came in today and sure enough it is a g7. I paid $135 with shipping so it's a good deal none the less but I wanted the older model Idk what to do now. Keep it and use it or return it? What do you guys suggest? Quote
MrSwimJig Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Definitely return for the 201E7 or a refund. Especially if they are both $135 Quote
tstone Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 The only way I'd be ok with it is if I ordered a G and got an E. Return it. Quote
dam0007 Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 Can not get a hold of anyone from the "Seller" only got a amazon rep on he said I could return for a refund. I explained to him the mix up and I just want the E model. He said he put me on hold and contacted the seller to inquire on the dilemma. Now just waiting on a response. He said if I grow impatient feel free to call anytime and request a return shipping label. Just so you guys know I own 3 chronarchs and could use a 4th reel. Is the G model really that bad? I'm just thinking if it turns out to be a typo if I might as well keep it. Just from reading around the Web the E Curado is basicly the E chronarchs I own. ...mm Quote
dam0007 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Update. Called amazon back and the woman I spoke to walked me through how to contact the seller properly via the amazon site. Explained the dilemma again, let's see what happens... Quote
Arv Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 The G series isn't bad by any means IMO. I just like the E series more. Quote

You can find a G series cheaper than 135 anyway so I would return it for the E that you originally ordered. Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 1, 2013 Super User Posted May 1, 2013 That sucks, hope it works out for you. I hate having to deal with returns and exchanges especially when all you have is electronic methods of contact. Good Luck. Quote
dam0007 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Urgent I think this reel might be a knock off replica. The handles don't say power grip they say technical grip, it didn't come with oil or tool just Grey brake tabs. Can anyone confirm this who owns the reel before I jump to conclusions.... If they come back and say the E is not available I think I'm gonna just keep this as a spare seeing as how a few searches online I cannot find a new E series. Quote

A clear pic or two will help identify your reel. Not having used the G I can't speak from personal experience, but the consensus seems to be that the G is a solid reel though not quite on the level of the E. If your reel is a Curado G, you'll be hard pressed to find a Curado E for the same price—expect to pay at least $40 more unless you find a really, really rare deal. Here's what a Curado G looks like: Curado 200E: Curado 300E: Quote
dam0007 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Yeah I checked pics online can't find one that the grips are black and say technical L grip Quote

Hmm, the grips on both of my Curado 201G7s say technical L grip II as well; maybe I got a couple of knockoffs too! Lol, well, they cast good, and fish good, so I think I'll just keep fishing them until something breaks, which hopefully won't be anytime in near future. Don't have a Curado 201E, but I do have a Curado 301E; and there's no writing on either of its grips. Go figure! Quote
dam0007 Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 @ deep whew! Thanks for confirming. I was about to be very ticked off Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 1, 2013 Super User Posted May 1, 2013 Regarding your situation..............get what you want. I did something last week that I am normally vehemently opposed to, I bought a rod on line thru Amazon. The rod came in a timely fashion, before I opened the box I knew the rod was broken, and it was. It was not Amazon's fault but the vendor's for doing a poor packaging job. I called Amazon, the rep in India (sounded like it) could not have been more helpful, 11:00 the next morning I had a new one over nighted to me, this one packaged properly. Luckily my only 2 inconveniences was having to call Amazon and taking the broken rod to a shipping outlet. Quote
dam0007 Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Found out the technical L grips have a L for a reason, they're the left handed version contoured for left hands. Gotta love shimano! Yea my reel is not bootleg at all. Thank god. @sirsnookalot haven't heard back from the seller but amazons customer service has been great to me thus far. No complaints here. I'm probably going to keep the G model, haven't been able to find a E online other than the 300 version. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted May 2, 2013 Super User Posted May 2, 2013 The G series is a great reel. I have 2 of them. Don't discount it because some don't like it. I once bought a new car my Dad didn't like, because he said they were not reliable, (make withheld). Long story short, I drove that car for 14 yrs. Hootie Quote
vikingbear8 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 This happened to me at Gander Mountain, i asked them if it was a E or G and they said E, the box was even very clearly marked E7 in a few places, so i bought it, fished with it, was extremely unimpressed it didnt come close to comparing to any of my lews and just assumed thats how the reel is. Then I looked at the reel a little closer, and noticed it was the G model. I was pretty upset to say the least Quote

That is definitly not what i said. Maybe i worded it a little funny. But basically I though I had an E. The box said E. So i slapped the reel on without really looking at it. Fished, looked at it later and saw it said G on the reel Quote
