GoneFishi'n Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I was wondering if a crooked rod is bad to use. It aims to the right pretty good. The guides on it are also crooked to. And some are at different angles then the others. I picked it up at bass pro during the last summer. I didn't know what to look for in a rod because it was my second one. Would Abu take the rod back even if it has some chips in the paint? Would they blame to defect on me because the guides are messed up? And if I ask for a MH to replace my H would they do it? The one I would send back would be the H. Thanks. Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 All you can do is ask. FWIW theres no feasible way they could blame the guides being crooked on you unless you stripped the entire blank and re wrapped them; however if youve been fishing with it this long its probably not hurting anything, and they may be reluctant to take it back because you just noticed it. BUT... ask them, who knows Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted April 30, 2013 Super User Posted April 30, 2013 These Veritas problems seem to be popping up a lot lately. I don't fish them but have looked at them in consideration. What are the warranties on these rods? Quote

What are the warranties on these rods? I think it is a 3 year limited warranty. I have 4 of them and have nothing but good things to say about them. I do check all the guides before purchasing after reading threads on here. 1 Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 My issues have been the guides breaking. Ceramic inserts cracking and guides bending. Starting to get on my nerves. In terms of the blanks themselves and the ergonomics; I love it. Will I buy another? No Quote

BUT... ask them, who knows I have only caught 3 bass on it so far. And I rarely fish with it. I don't know why I didn't notice it before. I hate that I didn't. I'll take a picture later today. I will show you guys how crooked the rod is and the messed up guides. Maybe someone can look at the guides and tell me if it is normal. But I really think they are not normal. Some of them are angled different ways. Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 That's true but how long have you had the rod for. That's all I was trying to get at there Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 At the end of the recent summer. Right before school started. Quote
motodmast Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 i would send an email to them saying it broke while setting the hook, if they say send it back for a replacement, then just cut the bottom part, from bottom grip to where it says veritas, that way they can see what model it is and get you a new one, and im sure they would send you a MH if you asked Quote
TNBassin' Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 The veritas is the most awesome piece of junk ever. My battles with that rod are lengendary. Quote
Diggy Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Send abu an email and they'll take care of it Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 Oh, I didn't mention it was the regular guided one. Quote
PABASS Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 These rods are a catch 22 for me, I like them better then my St Croix of near equal value but the quality isn't close to St Croix. On my first order the guides were cracked, sent it back and got a new one and so far its been great but I don't think its going to last the 15-20 years that my St Croix have. I like them better because of, weight, sensitivity and looks they go well with my stradics. I have heard that Abu CS is very good so hit them and see. Quote

Hyrule Bass Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 abu rods are constantly breaking. i love their reels, but would not even consider their rods with all the people that have said they have broken them... 1 Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 30, 2013 Super User Posted April 30, 2013 If you had it leaned up against a wall the vast majority of the time it has been inactive, that could be the reason for the current curve in the rod. Quote
