Pick A Jerkbait Rod For Me

As the title says.. . Was looking at Powells diesel 705 glass rod but skeptic on the zero warranty. I don't want to spend crazy as I don't throw jerkbaits enough. Thanks in advance. I also get a discount through Powell direct but with the shipping cost of $20 it may not be worth it so any brand is recommended is cool.

I use a Shimano Crucial 6'3" Medium/XF spinning rod paired with a Shimano Stradic 2500 ci4.  I also have a casting setup - a St. Croix AVID 6'8" Medium/XFast that I use as well.

Croix Mojo, 6'8" M/XF. $100.  If you got the coin the Avid would be great too.

Another vote for the mojobass, MBC70MF, very versatile rod I use this rod for my BC when pitching, to my jerkbait and crankbait rod when I use my spinning gear and it works great.  I am thinking about getting in on the Dicks deal bring in any rod and get $20 off a $100 or more St croix rod.

I love Powell Endurance and Max rods, but they dont really make a rod that i like for Jerk Baits. If they made an Endurance 682 id probably be all over it, but they dont.

Dont know what your budget, but for 100; id llook at the Shimano Compre Reactiom, 6'8" Med.

If you have a bit higher budget, I look at the St. Croix Avid or St. Croix Legend Tournament rods of similar specs.

This really is a great option. Sounds like you don't want to spend a lot. I own that diesel rod you mentioned. Personally, I wouldn't use it for jerk baits. It's to soft IMO. A 6'3 Gen. 1 Cumara may be another option in your price range if you can locate one.

Powell Max 702 is a great jerkbait rod.  I know TW stopped carrying them last year, so not sure if it is still being made or not but if you can get one from Powell you will not be disappointed.

I use the Powell Max 703 MEF for jerkbaits.  The Powell Max 702 MLEF is still being made and I own it also, but I prefer the power of the medium spinning rod with regard to this technique.

Fenwick Elite Tech 6'9" MXF if you like a fast tip.  6'10" MH Med-Fast in the same line if you like a slower tip.

i picked up a carbonlite ml/f 6'6" this winter and have used it for jerkbaits and i absoutley love it. it is just stout enough to work the baits and throw light baits but has enough backbone to hook a fish. it feels great playing a fish too, light enough to keep the trebles pinned. got several 3-5 lbs fish on it already and love it.

Sup guys thanks for all the input. I was under assumption the ideal rod for jerks would be a medium moderate yet everyone seems to say medium fast. If that's the case I may try throwing some on my 6' medium fast premier hut its a spinning rod. Kind of wanted a baitcasting. Also tackle warehouse has a Powell rod that's exclusive to tw but it's 160 and no discount on that for me. I have a reels covered. Also anyone prefer a glass rod over graphite for jerks.

Hey btw I own a cumara as well as a clarus. To me I couldn't tell a difference between clarus compre and crucial. Cumara is in a league of its own. The clarus is my dedicated spinnerbait rod and I loveeeee it!

My Powell Max 702 is a baitcasting rod, not spinning.  Its a M/F rod and it awesome for jerkbaits!

Just a little update. I used this combo for a good portion of my tournament Sunday for flukes. It performed excellent. The more I fish with the 13 the more I admire it..... FYI combo is 6'6" M/F with Chronarch 201E6
