So After 4 Years Of Bass Fishing I Just Bought My First Bag Of Senkos :)

I've been bass fishing here in western ky for 4 years. Around here all my friends call senkos and stick worms "do-nothins" lmao. So I've avoided them, religiously. However after joining this awesome site and digging into it extensively, the bait monkey got me and I bought my first bag I picked of a bag of GY senkos in watermelon magic, and a bag of fat ika's in black with blue flake.

I can't wait to try them out this weekend and see if they live up to the hype I'll post an update first thing when I get back from the lake house.

I'll gladly spend the dough if ole bucket mouth likes them isn't that what half the fun of fishing is? Going down the bait isles like a little kid in a toy store, then feeling guilty when you walk out with a bag of stuff that cost you your full allowance ;D haha

Welcome to the pack, I would never pony up because I thought they cost too much. Then I did the math, my time catching fish is worth more than pinching pennies and they have worked when other lures failed.

That's exactly my thought! My first two years I bought the cheapest of the cheap (but not Walmart no name lol). Now I'm realizing that those expensive baits can be worth the money if they're effective, I'd gladly pay an extra $10-$20 if it meant the difference of catching a few more fish! That's why I bought the the GYCB, even though there was some YUMS right next to them for $2 cheaper. After reading on here and soaking in this massive well of bass angling knowledge, the GYCB were a no brainer

If you decide to wacky rig em.. then you may want to invest in some o-rings.. they are my senko savers.. I can catch multiple fish on a single senko before I have to swap it out..

also Wally world has small black rubber bands for womens hair in the cosmetic section.

See I use to do this too but then they stopped selling my fake hair extensions so I go to Sally instead

That's the way to go!!

I usuall trim off the torn part and rebook. It goes from a 5" senko to a 4.5" senkos and eventually a 4"

If you wacky rig using 2 O rings so that the hook is perpendicular to the senko, you can use the same senko for many fish at times. My GY senko I have on now has brought in close to twenty and is still kicking!

just remember to match the hook with the size, a 3/0 will give the 5 inch a slower fall then the 5/0 but i do use both, but only the 5/0 on the 6in...and i use only wide gap so pick the pick hook of ur choice..

Don't be afraid to jerk those things back on the retrieve after you've given it time to sink to the bottom; they have a really awesome darting action that triggers just as many strikes (if not more!) for me as the initial fall, assuming you've got it t-rigged. I like to give it a pair of walk-the-dog style twitches in between pauses, it always seems to work. It's true they shred up pretty quick, but in my experience they like 'em all mangled.
