GaterB Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Could anyone offer some feedback on good experiences they've had with different brands of copoly line? I'm looking to try some out but I have zero experience with it. Any advice? Quote
thehooligan Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 My favorites are pline flouroclear, yozuri hybrid ultra soft, and hi-seas grand slam... 1 Quote
motodmast Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 P line fluoroclear is my favorite, it handles well, spinning gear it can get some bad memory though. Then next i like p line cxx. Quote
jerzeeD Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 P-line CX and P-line flouroclear on all my rigs. Good strength and manageability. Not at all expensive. Quote
MrSwimJig Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I have tried P-Line and prefer Yo-Zuri hybrid over it every time. But also really like Izorline XXX really well also. To me P-Line even treated with KVD L&L is not near as manageable as Yo-Zuri or XXX treated with KVD L&L. All the above lines are extremely tough and durable and offer great all around performance. You will just have to try them and see which ones you like and which ones you do not like. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 29, 2013 Super User Posted April 29, 2013 Excellent summary Mr. Swim Jig! Izorline is a sleeper, but may be the most managable of the lines mentioned. I am a big fan of Yo-Zuri Hybrid and recommend #6 for spinning tackle. As far as P-Line goes, it retains a lot of memory and is better suited for baitcasting. Quote
GaterB Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 I'm trying P Line CX on a baitcasting setup because it was all I could find at my local shop. I'll definitely check out Yo Zuri and Izorline in the future though I've read a lot of good things about both recently. Thanks everybody! Quote
Super User South FLA Posted April 29, 2013 Super User Posted April 29, 2013 I have literally tried them ALL! The best all around in my opinion is......McCoy Mean Green. Hands down the BEST, everyone that I have told to try it has loved it. http://www.mccoyfishingline.com/newsite/prod_line_xtreme.html 1 Quote
jerzeeD Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I don't get the memory problems people seem to have with P-line. I use all spinning gear. My finesse plastics rod, spinner bait/ small swim bait rod, and crankbait setup all use 12 lb. P-line CX or flouroclear. My Jig/Frog setup currently has 15. Lb. CX on it. Have only used it a little with 1/2 oz jigs, but have not had a problem with that yet either. Maybe it will start giving me issues when I frog fish due to being lighter than jigs. We will wait and see there. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 30, 2013 Super User Posted April 30, 2013 I have had great luck with pline flouroclear and yozuri hybrid (ultrasoft on spinning, regular on baitcast). Tried cxx one for two trips, hated it due to line breaking for no reason. Abuse flouroclear & Yozuri with no issues. Use KVD L&L when I spool up and the night before each trip no management issues at all. Quote
Hogsticker Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 P Line Fluoroclear and Yo-Zuri Hybrid are the only two I've ever cared for. Two different animals though. P Line is coated with a thin layer of fluoro, to where Yo-Zuri is fluoro and nylon bonded together. I prefer the Hybrid for most techniques, but only use it on one rod. Braid for all others with P Line Senshi fluoro as a leader. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted April 30, 2013 Super User Posted April 30, 2013 I have literally tried them ALL! The best all around in my opinion is......McCoy Mean Green. Hands down the BEST, everyone that I have told to try it has loved it. http://www.mccoyfishingline.com/newsite/prod_line_xtreme.html I have tried many of the others. I've been using P-Line CXX almost exclusively for the last year or two, but the last couple of spools have been more trouble than I'm used to. Thanks for the link. I will give the Mean Green a try. Super User WRB Posted April 30, 2013 Super User Posted April 30, 2013 Hate to burst you bubble but FluoroClear and Yo-Zuri isn't a copolymer line, they are both a hybrid of polymer with coextruded fluorocarbon jacket. A copolymer is 2 polymers blended into 1 line material. P-Line CXX is a copolymer along with several others. Tom 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 30, 2013 Super User Posted April 30, 2013 I'm not much of a mono or copoly user but on certain outfits I do use it. I fish nothing but spinning gear, a few months ago I loaded up with 14# silver thread on one of my barracuda outfits. My lures spin 360 degrees all the time, plus the normal action of how line loads on a spinning reel causes severe line twist. Normally I limp my line out with hot water, I was lazy and didn't, just spooled it up. Been using silver thread last the few months and catching 20-40# barracuda in inlet current that runs 6-12 knots, that's pretty quick. The line has yet to fail and manages well, the key to catching any larger fish is healthy line and knowing how to use your drag, and the quality of your knot, I use an improved clinch on this set up. I do recommend trolling your line out after each outing. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 30, 2013 Global Moderator Posted April 30, 2013 P-line C21, $4.99 a spool and you can lift a brushpile off the bottom with it even after seesawing on a limb with a big fish, trust me, I've done it. It has more stretch than I'd like with jigs or plastics but it's an awesome line for treble hooked baits or other faster moving baits. Quote
