What Looks Good To Fish On This Topo Map?

Hey guys, I finally found a topo map for the lake that I fish. Where do you guys think would be good to fish on this map? Not really how to read one (watched videos on that) but spots where you think fish would be. There should be a picture of the map attached. Thanks in advance!

This isn't a terribly detailed topo map, and thus, it doesn't give you much to go on that you couldn't figure out from looking at shoreline angles anyway. What I would suggest is getting the USGS topography plugin for Googleearth. It is much more detailed, and its free.

Fish docks, and back of coves looking for spawning beds if they are starting to spawn, if not, im sure there in pre spawn and look for the first deep drop.offs or related areas to those spawning flats

Agree the detail isn't there. But one thing it does say is that it is not a very deep lake. Thus, cover is probably going to play a significant role. It does have some steep shorelines which would be good winter habitat, and most probably summer habitat too. Water clarity always plays a major role with murkier waters often keeping fish shallow. Is there vegetation? If not, wood? Rock? What fish species are present -do well there? This can tell you a bit about the habitat types present.

 

Just in general, I'd choose the shallow arms in spring and then see if they hold up into summer. I'd be finding shallow to deep transitions and breaks, esp outside of spring.

Your map isn't a topo map it's a lake recreational use map and not enough detail to help much. This lake is small and you shouldn't have much trouble learning where to bass fish seasonally.

If the wind blows over the dam and up the main lake basin, the area by the docks is as good as anything on this lake and the area just across from the docks. The major point that divides. this small lake into 2 arms or main lake basin where the docks are and 1 larger bay to the left of the dam is also a good area. The dam area and basin to the right should be good during cold water periods.The bass will move around this small lake a lot looking for prey and to spawn. The direction will determine the spawning areas, protected from wind.

The inlet creek is always a source of food for bass and they will move up into that area at times.

Start by the docks and fish up the direction towards the dam and fish the major point all the way around. The deeper water pocket near the docks is intriguing, could hold big bass. The creek bed may be silted in, still check it out.

Go across the main lake basin from the docks and fish that area. The bass may use the 6' break line zone a lot during the summer day time. If the water has good clarity, nights could be good.
