ClearCreek Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Pure Fishing is the parent company that owns 11 different tackle companies. Their companies market reels that vary from lower end reels to the highest end reels made, and everything in between. ClearCreek Quote

Super User FishTank Posted July 10, 2014 Super User Posted July 10, 2014 Another example is the current Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Duango...The Durango is actually built on the Cherokee Platform. 2 TOTALLY different vehicles but they both share MANY components.Look at a certain model Jaguar...its all bells and whistles, nope all it really is...ready???...its an overpriced, dressed up Ford Taurus... The first Generation Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest come to mind. The Quest had Nissan Badging and Nissan Engine on a Body built by Ford. The Mazda Pickup and Ford Ranger...Honda Passport and Isuzu Rodeo... I know were talking fishing reels sothat makes me wonder just as an example which reels are basically the same but are badged with different brands and seperate price points... I know this thread is about reels but having owned a couple of Jags. The Taurus comparison is not realistic. The X type was designed on the Lincoln LS platform and there is a short list of parts that transfer over but this about it and maybe the 5 speed ZF transmission in a few early models (1999-2002). It is true Ford owned them and helped design the Freelander 2, X type and the S type but all the cars, control and manufacturing stayed in England (Halewood and Castle Bromwich plants). They have been owned by Tata Motors of India since 2008. Without Fords money though, they would have folded. Quote
