Super User ww2farmer Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 It was shaping up to be another good day of lipless cranking on the home lake. I had boated a couple pike, and a small keeper largemouth, when disaster/amother pike struck....................I am just getting home from the ER getting stiches in my thumb from a pike trying to chew it off, so I will never know if it was a good day catching wise, but it deff. was a bad day of fishing. hooah212002 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Noodling for pike is never a good idea. I think you are only supposed to do that with fish that don't have sharp teeth. 1 Quote
rmcguirk Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Ouch!!!! Though one of those devils has never gotten me, just about every one I've ever caught has tried his hardest. (For you southern guys, that's not a joke. They continually turn their head to try to bite you.) They are just flat mean. I enjoy catching them. I just don't enjoy dealing with them after I've caught them. On a well-equipped boat they're bad enough. Catch one in a kayak, though, and it's a whole different ball game. Hopefully, you're back on the water ASAP! Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 24, 2013 Author Super User Posted April 24, 2013 Hopefully, you're back on the water ASAP! Won't slow me down. Just be a minor nuisance for a while. I plan on being out there at least two more times before the end of the week. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 Bummer. Must've been pretty bad for you to stop, fishing and go to the ER. I had a couple pickerel get me before but no stitches received but I probably should have. Good thing I keep some tape with me 1 Quote
Diggy Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Sorry to hear man. Must be a chore handling those. I remember seeing a youtube video with some guy having a pike pierce his hand. I hope you gave it a backhand! Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted April 24, 2013 Super User Posted April 24, 2013 Pike can be nasty if they get ahold of your flesh. I got bit by a pickerel back in NJ trying to remove a hook Quote
shimmy Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Guess you learn first hand that pike do not make good snugglers. Good thing she gave you the cold shoulder before any kissing started taking place, just sayin. Quote
Matt Jungblut Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 had that happen to me 2 days later was still hurting so some pushing and prodding and out pops a tooth Quote
