Mod(s), feel free to move this to whatever forum if this is not the place for it.

I've been thinking about just how equal the top anglers from FLW and BASS are, and I can't help but think it would be profitable for both organizations to co-promote one "Superbowl" of bass fishing event each year (maybe not with such a corny name). Off the top of my head, taking the top 25-30 anglers in points from FLW Majors and BASS Elite Series each year would make for one amazing tournament.

I looked at different contact information on both websites and couldn't decide what would be best to do. Any ideas from anyone on how to get an idea like this to the right people?

I'm fairly sure someone has thought of this already, but maybe they just need a vote of confidence from fans to pull it off.

(or maybe I'm just thinking of the impossible, lol).

Technically that supposed to be the Texas Toyota Bass Classic hosted by the PAA.  Byron Thrift won it this year but the top points anglers in both FLW and BASS qualify and compete in it.

I didn't realize that that was what the TTBC was. I still would contend that BASS and FLW should copromote an event and split cost/profit 50/50 on it.

That would be kind of difficult since some of the elite pro's fish both events already.

I like the idea of having a U.S Open for bass fishing with qualifiers much like you have in golf. The biggest problem I see is that there is no overall governing body in bass fishing such as the USGA in golf. Yes we have BASS and FLW but unlike the PGA they don't answer to anyone except sponsors and viewers/readers.

For something like this to happen BASS and FLW would have to work together.

Would I be a jerk of I said technically there is a US Open on Lake Mead each year. Considered one of the toughest tournaments. Been won by Gary Dobyns, Rick Clunn and Aaron Martens twice if I am not mistaken. That is a tourney I would love to see all the top guys compete in

We did it in 2005, back when I still owned another site. Called the Cabela's Top Gun Championship. Invited the best from the another site World Rankings (both trails), plus the championship winners and AOYs.  Held it in TX, and WE PAID EVERY ANGLER TO SHOW UP.  That is called an "appearance fee" in sports, and is distinctly different than an entry fee, where they pay to show up.  Great event, televised, tried to show the big two how it could be done, never happened again (I sold another site....).  Would love to see someone pick up the ball because I agree it should happen.

I hate to sound negative on this but really what would be gained by 1 tournament ? Could they say they were the best I the world? Only for that week. Many events feature bass and flw tours stars already. Ttbc paa mlf umf to name a few. Also I think it would diminish their on "major" tournaments such as the classic and flw cup. Just my $.02
