For those that throw Frogs and have tried them all...I was wondering about 2 frog brands in particular.I'm asking about the ones with the skirted legs (no kicking versions apply to this)

Snag Proof and Scum Frog...here's my take on the two companies.

Snag Proof has Tourney Pros endorsing these so they have a much better chance of being sold to avid anglers.

I haven't heard or seen Scum Frog sponsoring pros so I'm guessing they are kind of a "sleeper" red headed stepchild kind of company.

Both companies make a product that isn't very pleasing to the eye...that being said...eye candy ISNT what catches fish, action is what catches fish on topwaters. Basically a reaction bait. I'm betting if you threw a Marshmallow out there and twitched it onatted vegetation you'd get a blow up. There's disturbance on top of the mats and they just go for it without even seeing it.

Ok so...now here's where the rubber meets the road...how are each on the ability to not take on water...and what about the body design...hookup ability with each and durability?

Now remember...you can't really base hookups on the bait itself. Sometimes the fish are just whacking it, but not committing to choking it down. Then there's also the fact that, while the fish may want to choke it down, vegetation prevents it. Last aspect is on the angler himself. You can't blame the bait for poor hookups if the timing for the hookset isn't right. Some anglers think a frog is junk because of poor hookups, when in fact, they are too quick on the hookset.

I have personally fished a smaller Guntersville patterned Snag Proof Frog and had only a few blowup on it. The last blowup I had came from a Green Sunfish...the only fish I have been able to hook into. I noticed the after I unhooked the fish, that on of the points of my hook was curled up just a tiny bit. Its still sharp, and actually may have more of a cutting edge to it.

I haven't fished any Scum Frogs but might decide to do so based on feedback given here...so ehats everyones take on each of these?

I have used Scum Frogs with success and the price isn't bad, either. Like you said, they aren't very pretty like a lot of these new frogs coming out, but for the price, and their usefulness, I like 'em. Scum frog poppers have worked for me too.

I use the Ish Monroe frogs from Snag Proof. A bit pricey but I like that it's got 2 chambers and won't take on any water.

I've caught lots of bass on a black scumfrog popper. More than even my spros.

Im not a big fan of the scum frog. It may have just been me, or a bad individual lure but I couldn't get the darn thing to run the way I wanted it to. It would take on water and roll over more than any other frog I have used. I personally haven't used the snag proof frogs but my experience with the scum frog wasn't a great one, so of the two I would suggest the snag proof.
