A very effective presentation in cold water. Curious about which make you folks use most. I have some old Silver Buddies and Lil' Nitros (T n' T tackle, no longer made) that I'm currently using, but on a recent outing with some friends, they "clocked" me quite well! They are using the Vault. But those are so expensive (almost $7.00 ea.!). With an on/off bottom presentation, you can count on loosing a couple each trip at least. Not very cost effective, even though they do work quite well.

Been looking at the Binski's. Impressive information and endorsements on various sites and they are not as expensive as the Vaults.

Similar to the Silver Buddy is the BPS offering. Hard to tell the difference actually.  Harder to determine which - if any - is any more effective that the other!

So, if you have a favorite, let's hear it. :)

Good cold water bait.

Throw and let sink to bottom.

Pop it up and start reeling to you and stop on the way in to let it fall.

Supposed to mimic a dying or wounded shad.

You can change your retrieve to what ever you want.

They may be a regional bait, but by far the best blade bait I've used is the Zip lure. The guy who originally made them, now has basically the same bait called the Big Dude. Either one, is killer. They have great action. I have some old Silver Buddies, Cicadas, Heddon Sonars and a Bass Pro blade baits, but none of them catch as many fish as the Big Dudes/Zip Lure. The white bass and hybrid stripers really like them.

I like the Bps sonar blade. I also use Binski's but the bps is a better value. I always order some at the end of the summer.

I like the Vault, Binsky, and Showdown. The Showdown is far and away my favorite. It's simply incredible in terms of ability to hook fish, and vibration. I fish it, almost exclusively, in 1/4 ounce. It has a single rear treble so it doesn't snag much. It's very easy to modify to come through cover extremely well. Clip one of the hooks and trim the tail so that the hook will ride up.

Best blade bait there is, IMO.

BPS Lazer Blade. Great for walleye and cold water bass. Very reasonably priced too, which is good because if I'm throwing blades I'm going to leave several at the lake every trip.

IF has an article this month featuring blades.

I like the Cicada when I want a small bait and the Heddon Sonic or BPS's blade when I'm targeting deep water or bigger fish. The Cicada has wicked movement on the drop, but the other two can be ripped, jigged, swum, or even burned through the water for results.

I like the looks of the Cicada as well. Will have to pick up a few of these to try. (Just wish they made them in gold!) I'm still not convinced that any one blade one is better than another. And testimonials show bear that out. They all seem to work well at one time or another. And even the home made ones are great. They do vary in price quite a bit, but I don't believe that you can't "buy" success either. Presentation, water temp and time of the year is probably more of an indicator for success with these baits.

Thank you for your feedback folks! :)
