My kids and grandchildren blew me away last night. Kit and I went to Mass, walked in and saw all of them taking up an entire pew. We went in and sat in the row behind them. In unison, they all removed their jackets and revealed tee shirts saying "no one fights ALONE".  Dang tearjerker of a moment. Afterward we all went to my middle daughter's home for a party.  I am so blessed having this support from my family and all of you. God bless you all.

I finally am making a comeback from the LAST chemo. I had no idea I could be that sick for that long. It's been 9 days, I'm down about 35 lbs. from when I started this whole regiment. Today Kit went out and bought me pants two sizes smaller. She told me I couldn't wear my old clothes for the immediate future. Once again, thanks to all of you for your support through this ordeal.

Wept at this myself. I've read this whole thread, which began before I joined. I'm amazed and inspired by your courage and endurance, the love and support of all those around you, the determination of your friends here to help you focus on the big picture, your faith, love, and life itself.  I retired from nursing (25 years) and I know for sure (statistics bear this out) that people with your kind of support have high success rates. Your docs have brought out the big guns because their prognosis for you is good. They're a realist bunch. Your family, especially Kit, is in a focussed fight mode. What a gal! What love between you! And those on BR think of you every day, as I will myself. Your world and all the love in it will bear you up when you are tired or sick. Let it.  :)

As many here have said, this is truly like running a marathon.......pacing oneself, enduring pain, keeping your thoughts on the goal. And try to remember: the times when your body feels most horrible are the times the Ca is dying. It has far less resistance to chemo and radiation than you do. When you can't eat, it's starving even more. If I were the nurse with you, I'd be going back in the breakroom with the other nurses and we'd be smiling and saying, "This guy's gonna beat it."

Stitch, your story here is a gift to me. It puts things in perspective and helps me to let go of the small stuff.....to remember what really matters. I'm praying every morning for you and your family with gratitude and hope.    Laurie

Stitch,  We have lots of fishing to do in our future yet. This is just a bump in the road, a pit stop in our lives.

You will beat this I'm sure. Just focus on the future. Our souls and faith in our creator is stronger than any illness on the planet so let's whoop this thing. It sounds like you have an awesome support group too.

Keep on moving forward.  God bless, bigbill

Another milestone has been passed. This morning I took the last of my twice daily chemo pills. I'm feeling better than I have been. I've put on a bit over ten pounds. I am looking forward to my body eliminating all the chemicals that have been used. Once again, I couldn't have done this alone. I thank all of you for your support. You honestly can't imagine how much you've helped me.

Thinking of you and happy at the end of those ........ pills! Sounds like you're in touch with your body, which is a good indicator of recovery. I'm praying for you, that each day brings feelings of well-being. It takes courage to reach out to others when you're so vulnerable! Your gratitude for your life and loved ones is a prayer from you to Him 24/7

Great to hear your doing much better now. That's awesome. We have this thing on the run now. I knew you could do it. Now it's time to enjoy the holidays with the family and close friends. Just stay focused.

I finally was up and about today. It snowed here the other night just flurries but it was coming down at times. I'd like to run out and throw some swimbaits but it's been cold with that bone chillin wind has me hugging the Woodstove. I need to push myself to move around more. I'm like you stitch I'm doing better.  Today was a good day.   God bless, bigbill

Kit caught me shoveling snow this morning. I may be grounded for a week !

Forget about shoveling - if you want or need a little exercise practice your hook-sets :laugh5:

Take it easy and slow stitch. I hope your thanksgiving was awesome. Each holiday will be extra special from now on. I kind of went over board on Christmas presents already.  Christmas is going to be awesome too for the both of us.

I'm not sure about how you feel about this past year stitch my life as I knew it stopped when my doctor told me I had prostate cancer. I was in a stalled state for many months. Now I'm starting to feel we have a new lease on life, a second chance after beating this thing. We have the second chapter of our lives in front of us. To me on January 1st, 2014 we will turn the page and put this past year behind us, as far behind us as we can put it and forget about it. I'm going to enjoy everyday, every week, every month every year that's ahead of us in the future decades too. We had to play the hand our creator has dealt us and we won. We still need to go slow in the slow lane of life for now. I'm going to stay going slow and take in all that life has to offer us. I'm in no rush.  I'm going to focus on the family and friends and don't sweat the little things. It's our time to sit back and take it easy and watch life go by. Brother when spring comes I'm actually going to enjoy fishing more than in the past. We stayed focused and never gave up. We did it just like I told you, we would beat this thing. I feel like we're born again.  God bless you and your family,  bill

Snow??? Please keep it there. Kidding but my old tired '55 jeep tractor started right up after sitting all summer. I have a running frame with a four way plow with a seat. I put on my warm insulated hunting clothes and sit in the weather and plow. Sitting in the cold weather while plowing just gets my juices flowing and makes me feel more alive. The cold temps and the crisp air does it.
