Super User 00 mod Posted August 1, 2013 Super User Posted August 1, 2013 UPDATES ON STITCH: 19 HRS AGO  This will be short I just wanted to let you know that the surgery is over and everything went as the dr expected.  We have not seen he yet .  Later today I will fill you in on the details thanks for all your prayers they worked.  Kit   12 HRS AGO  Stitch got out of surgery around 2:00 but we did not see him until 5:00. He was in a lot of pain and did not like the vent.  Tubes comming out of his neck and 3 in his back.  They did not have to piece it together with part if his intestines which was good.  The nurse told me they were taking out his vent and she would come and get us when they were done.  On the way back to see him when the vent was out the nurse said she had a surprise for me.  I walked into the room and stitch was sitting in a chair and very much awake.  He has back pain but he is getting meds for that.  When we left he was getting ready to watch the ball game.  We still have a long way to go but he made it through the surgery so one day at a time.  I had our three girls and their husbands with me and I couldn't have been more grateful. My sister and niece also came our family is so supportive I couldn't have done it without them.  Thank you family.  We will see what tomorrow brings but am hoping for a good day.  Thanks to all of you foryour prayers and concern I can't tell you how much it means to us.  Kitt    THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!! HANG IN THERE BUD! WE WILL ALL BE PRAYING FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!  Jeff 5 Quote

Super User 00 mod Posted August 3, 2013 Super User Posted August 3, 2013 ABOUT 12 HRS AGO:  Stitch got moved to a regular room after having been in ICU for almost 3 days. He is doing well and everyone is very impressed. His anisticia nurse cam in today and said he had quite the surgery. She said they had to change his vent several times during surgery so that the Drs. could get around and do what they had to do. She said it was far more than usual, but that he is a wonder. They removed his pic line last night and he is hoping they will take out his chest tube tomorrow. He does look thinner but he has not had food since Sunday at Midnight. He is doing unbelievable he is in good spirits and just wants to be a good patient, as he puts it. I think he heard that from "Fr. Steve. Thanks for your concerns  and prayers and if possible we could use more. As the Dr. Says this is a chemo sandwich, chemo, surgery, chemo we are 2/3 of the way there. It would be nice if the last part of this sandwich  is as good as the first. We have met many wonderful people at Passavant and really can't say enough good things about it. Kit    Keep hanging in there buddy!  Jeff 5 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted August 4, 2013 Super User Posted August 4, 2013 ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO:  Stitch has lost a few more tubes since Friday. No oxygen and the IV's are out because now they are using his port to administer meds. He can move a little easier now since he is not as connected to as many machines. He got to shave and he said that felt very good even though the razor wasn't very good. He still has a sore throat but that won't go away until they take out the tube that goes to his stomach. He is scheduled to have a swallow test on Tue to see if the connection leaks in his esophagus. Not sure if he will be able to have a drink of something at that time or not.His room # is 6118 . So far so good we are all amazed at his progress. Thanks again for your support. Kit   Things are looking up! Jeff Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 5, 2013 Super User Posted August 5, 2013 Everything sounds good except for the shaving part. Â Keep it up man! One day at a time. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted August 5, 2013 Super User Posted August 5, 2013 1 HOUR AGO:  Stitch is doing well and he may loose another tube today.  The nurse disconnected his stomach tube so he could go for a walk yesterday so he and I walked around the floor twice and he did well.  Kit   THIS IS GREAT NEWS! KEEP UP THE PROGRESS! 1 Quote
Topwaterspook Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Hey, folks, I'm making some progress. The tube stays in for now. The next couple of days will determine what direction we take. I must be getting better, I'm getting more and more impatient. I am still trying to be the best possible patient I can. Thanks for all the prayers and support. You all are the BEST !!!! Topwaterspook Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 The chest tube has been removed. One more test tomorrow. If that goes well, the stomach tube will be removed. Then I can actually taste something other than ice chips. Which have been my diet since the 29th. Hopefully I'll be back home Thursday. You all take good care of each other. Go and hug someone you love really soon. Stitch 4 Quote
