OneShotOneKill Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Today i remembered i had one of my fathers old tackle boxes out in the garage. The contents probably haven't seen the light of day in 10-15 years so i decided to check it out. I'm glad i did because i found some pretty cool stuff. The top one I'm sure is familiar to everyone, seems to be an old "Original Floater" in size F11 What interested me was the plastic lip said "Ireland"....how long ago were Rapala's made in Ireland? Now the bottom 2 im clueless for them, I'm going to say jigging deep water for stripers? The green one says "Acme Need-l-Eel" 3/4 oz on the back. and the bottom copper colored one says "FlashKing Wobbler 3/8 oz" Maybe someone can shed some light on the bottom ones, I'm psyched i found that rapala. Super User rockchalk06 Posted April 19, 2013 Super User Posted April 19, 2013 Almost looks custom. I'd take em and frame em up. I'd give everything thing I had for some of my old mans stuff. Quote
powerduster Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 As a saltwater fisherman I am very familiar with the acme needle eel. I guess you could jig it, but 3/4 is pretty light for saltwater and as far as I know it doesn't come in heavier oz. I normally swim it on a steady retrieve and it's supposed to have very little action. I don't know if it's used in freshwater a lot, though. As for the flashking wobbler, I have no clue, but it looks like a swimming spoon. Quote

I have 0 experience with vintage lures but I did recently find a modern Rapala Countdown Minnow on the bank last year and it said Ireland on the lip. I've actually wondered about that myself cuz all the other ones I've seen have said Finland. Just checked their website and it said they have factories in Finland, France, Ireland, Estonia, and China. Don't know if only certain lures are made at certain factories or what the deal is there but apparently they're still made in Ireland. 1 Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted April 19, 2013 Super User Posted April 19, 2013 Go to a hobby lobby or craft store and mount them in a shadow box with pics of your old man or a lake house or something significant. Shadow box is a great way to display things like this. 1 Quote
ColdSVT Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 that flashking wobbler will slay lake trout! 1 Quote

I've been doing some research and found out both are made by the same company, and the wobbler is no longer produced which makes it seem like a cooler find to me! Interesting...none of the Rapala's I've got from the past few years say Ireland...Either says Finland or nothing at all on the lip. that flashking wobbler will slay lake trout! Awesome! I like trolling for trout, I think i'll be giving this one a shot this year! Quote
